For the Revo, how do I do a full restore from an Archive? Can this be done? My revo died over the weekend and when I connected it this morning in the office, all info was wiped out. What happened next was that the revo did a backup (as it is supposed to), only that what was backed up was empty info. I am now trying to retrieve the previous archive done on Friday but some how I keep getting the message "No files have been backed up to this directory". I guess I must be reading the Help instuctions wrong. Anyone has any ideas?

This doesn't sound like good news :( (I hope I'm understanding you correctly here)

It sounds as though the most recent backup done this morning, containing no data, has over-written on the PC the file you had from the previous backup on Friday.

If you do have another copy of Friday's backup (is that what you mean by "archive"?), then you should be able to restore that to the now empty Psion, and carry on from there.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for responding. Revo allows us to archive earlier backups in floders like Arc001, Arc002, etc. However, I can't seem to be able to do it, even though the instructions in the Help says that we can. Has anyone actually done it before?

OK, I understand you now - sorry about this - I'm working on a system with no PsiWin installed at the moment (dont ask!) so I've nothing to refer to.

You should have those archive folders automatically created by PsiWin, in the same sub folder as your normal backup, and should be able to select the appropriate one, instead of the default backup folder, in the restore dialogue.

I've always kept an extra copy of my latest backup in a different location (though I've never needed it) so I haven't explored this before.

I managed to solve the problem. Initially I couldn't restore from my Archive files. In the end what I did was to backup the empty info onto my PC, replace the empty info files with the files in Arc001 and finally do a restore from there. Thankfully it worked! However, I still can't figure why I cannot restore from my Archive files. Anyway, thanks for the help!

I've always wondered this myself - whenever I've had to restore Psiwin only ever seems to use the 'Backup' folder and steadfastly refuses to offer the option to restore a previous archive. My solution was to do exactly as you have done; manually copy the files out of the Arc001 folder into the Backup folder.

I just discovered this site, great !

I have a Revo for 2 years now, last month I open it as usual and....nada, blank screen. I close it, reopen, try again to press on (esc key) and after a while I hear a loud BEEP and... it works but I lost ALL my data.
No way to get it back, goes through the same problem as read above to synchro all from the PC, but mostly get things back in gear. OK

Today.... the same thing happens, does not switch on, try to insists, BEEP ... goodbye, everything lost again.

By reading all the mails here I understand you all consider this as normal, did I misunderstand something, is there a way to avoid that, is that normal ?
Should I throw the darn thing in the bin or what ?

thks for yr clarifications .
Cheers,
Patrick:confused:

i've had the same problem when i use up all the memory when i surf the internet occasionally from my revo. i turn it on and it comes up as if i did a hard reset, with the revo opening screen, but NOTHING will work to access the rest of the system. i have discovered if you do a hardware soft reset (pressing a paper clip into the hold marked 1 but not hole 2) then it wil work fine (for me) with everything where it sould be.
cheers and good luck
