I've not gotten myself an expansion card for my zire 72 yet.
I'm trying to download an e-book using the quick install, but everytime I click on add file, it will automatically go to the 'expansion card' column. Does this mean that my e-book is too big a file to put on the palm itself.
Thanks!

The 72 expects that e-books will be put on an expansion card so it always tries to go there first. Assuming your e-bool isn't too big, you can still install it in normal RAM. Just go to the install folder under your username foler in the Progamr/Palm directory. Copy the e-book to this folder and then hotsync. The e-book will be installed in RAM, again assuming it's no so big that it will use up all your RAM.

My handheld currently has 19.3MB space. My e-book is 1011.4KB. If I read you correctly, I'm supposed to go to quick install, and paste it into the handheld column instead of the expansion card column. I did that, but it still goes to the expansion column.

If it isn't a .pdb or .prc file, it can't go into the handheld.

I forgot about that. If the extension isn't PDB or PRC then install won't put it in RAM no matter what you do. It would put the file on an SD card since the creator ID issue isn't a problem for SD cards. What kind of file is this and what program is it for?

Thanks for the prompt reply, Jim.
Oh jeez, come to think of it I am not sure what kind of file it is. But it's for acrobat adobe reader, which I have already installed in my palm. I guess the only brilliant that I can do now is to get myself an sd card eh? =) After all, I do need it in the long run.

Ah, OK. You first need to change a PC version of a PDF file to a Palm readable version using the Adopbe desktop. It sounds like you were trying to directly install an unconverted PDF file. Since it has no creator ID to tell the Palm it's a Palm file, it will only let you install it on an SD card. Getting a card is a good idea if for nothing else but backing up files but you'll still have to read and understand the directions that come with the Adobe/Palm PDF reader to be able to convert and read PDF files.

yay, a light at the end of the tunnel!
Yeah, you were right I was actually installing an unconverted pdf file. I didn't know I have to change it silly me. Okay, I'm going to go off and learn how to do that exactly now! Thanks Jim!

Hi Jim! Okay this is harder than I thought. Do you have any website that you can refer me to, to learn how to convert Adobe/Palm PDF reader to read PDF files. Thanks Jim. Everyday is a learning process for me. Unfortunately I'm not so techie.

It's really not that hard.:) Go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readerforpalm.html for everything you want to know about how to convert PDF files and use them on your Palm.
