I have been using my Palm m515 extensively since the end of August.

Yesterday, I went to retrieve data from September and noticed that every single entry for the months of August and September had disappeared.

How could that happen?

I've kept my Palm fully charged and do not recall deleting a month's worth of entries.

To some extent it depends on what desktop you are using; Outlook or Palm. And what calendar app on the Palm. Most contain a preference to "archive" or delete appointments beyond a certain time. Start by checking the desktop Options.

I'm using Franklin Covey software for my calendaring, task list, etc.

It sounds like the "OK" button was tapped when the "Purge" window was brought up in DateBook. A friend did that to me many years ago when I was showing him my Palm V. (Since then, no one touches my Palm!) ... Fortunately, the data might be backed up. Open your DateBook and tap "Purge" from the menu. If "Save archive copy on PC" is checked, you're in luck. Make sure you tap "Cancel" and NOT "OK" when you exit the Purge window.

See if this link helps:

Good luck!

The link did not copy correctly. Sorry. Here's the text from Palm's Knowledge Library page I was trying to link:

"How to archive records to your desktop computer when deleting them:

Both your Palm™ handheld and Palm™ Desktop allow you to archive records when you delete or purge them. Archiving records allows you to remove information from your PalmPilot that you no longer need, thus conserving space, but maintain a copy of the information on your computer. Whenever necessary, you can access the information from the archive file.

Palm Desktop stores archived records in archive files. It maintains a separate file for the Date Book and for each category of records archived from the Address Book, To Do List, and Memo Pad applications. PalmPilot Desktop adds records to the archive files both from PalmPilot Desktop and your handheld when you perform a HotSync®. Note that the archived record is not created or updated until a HotSync® synchronization occurs.

An archive file contains data from only one of the Palm™ Desktop applications. You can open an archive file only for the currently selected application, which is referred to as the "current application." When an archive file opens, the information is displayed in the same way as in the current application."

Just a thought that runs parallel to this thread.
I bought SyncWizard about one year ago after it saved me from death and destruction. I use SyncWizard Once or twice each week to make a complete copy of my palm....RAM, ROM and Card to a CD. Last year my computer crashed and took all my Palm and Outlook files with it. Of course I had not backed up the computer in about one month. Well I had been playing with SyncWizard and had made a complete copy. It was so easy to rebuild that since then I make that copy to the CD each week. I still do not back up the PC as often as I should.
