I am using ActiveSync 3.7 with Sync options set to Files only.
When placing the Ipaq in the cradle it replaces a new version of a file on the Ipaq with an older version in the Synchronisation folder on the PC instead of the other way round! Consequently data and many days work is lost!!
If a file has been deleted on the PC synchronisation folder while the Ipaq is not connected then when it is re-connected it deletes the file from the My Documents folder on the Ipaq instead of updating the PC!
Under Options - Rules under Desktop it is set to 'Leave item unresolved' Server option is not activated. On 'Schedule' tab it is set to sync 'Continuously'
What is happening? This is a very costly problem and has forced me to advise users to do all transfers manually. Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

"Leave the item unresolved" is for when the file has been modified on BOTH the PC & Ipaq.
You need to set " Always replace the items on this computer" if you want the definitive file to be the Ipaq version.

Edit -

Not sure I'm right on this.

Many thanks!

That would be fine if we always wanted to transfer data in one direction. But we use the Ipaqs to collect data on site and then update a PC GIS system. We also transfer data from the PC GIS to the Ipaq before going on site. Now I have assumed (perhaps wrongly) that Active Sync compares two versions of the same file on the PC and the Ipaq and then synchronises both by overwriting the older version with the newer one. That is exactly what we want to do and of course it can go either way.
We have done this for some time and this problem has just suddenly happened. Is it version 3.7 perhaps??

Tried mine (2215 Synch 3.7.1) and yes.... it updates the old file to the newer version which ever one is modified.
ie - if the Ipaq file is changed it changes the Pc version & vice versa.......so yes....if one is deleted then the other one is also deleted.
