I am a new owner of the iQue 3600 and was wondering if you all could help me. I have been trying to install the detail maps to the iQue but I keep getting an error code, then I am instructed to contact tech support via e-mail or 1-800 number. I spent 3 hours on the phone with tech support and now they are saying that the problem is that I do not have a basic CD-ROM. My system has two drives, a CDR and a DVDR. Tech support says that because the media required on these systems (CDR/DVDR) are different , the map disk may not be read properly (I have never heard of this). The basic problem is that when I attempt to load the detail map, the program tells me to "insert disk 1", when I do, it continues to tell me to "insert Disk 1", even if it is already inserted. Any suggestions from the group out there? I have had this unit for over 5 days and all I can do is navigate with basemaps.
If it means anything, my OS is Win XP Pro.

If you spent 3 hours with tech support, I assume they may have covered this, but I often notice that when swapping disks that it is necessary to allow them to "spin up" by watching the drive light blink (then stop) before clicking on OK in the dialog box. A couple of seconds usually does the trick. BTW, I do not have a CD reader at all any more - 2 DVDR units. Support's explanation sounds a little funbobbed.

Try inserting the setup disk instead of the Map 1 disk when it asks for disk 1. BTW, I installed mine on one computer using a combo CDR/DVD.

I also tried this with support again with no joy. They finally agreed to send me new disks (another 2 day delay) to see if that fixes the problem.. let's hope that that does the trick

Some people have reported installation problems similar to this one, but in their case, the drive for the CD "disappeared".
By sharing the drive (with noone, but just by allowing it), windows seems to be fooled into beleiving that someone may need the drive, and thus preserve it.
Don't know if this will help you at all.

I've seen the same thing (also on XP Pro on a laptop with a combo drive). It only occurred when I tried to install the software the first time. At first, I ignored the requester and the install seemed to finish. But it didn't really.
I removed the software, tried a re-install and held down the shift key when I switched CD's until the system recognized the drive. It once again, seemed to work but wouldn't load the CS 6 maps.
Final try...that worked, was to leave the install as-is and then go to the start menu/program/Map Source/Map Installation Wizard (CS 6) and this time, select REPAIR and it will go through stuff and then as a final step, it creates an index file. That takes a few minutes but once it's done, everything worked fine.
I had a similar problem on my desktop under Windows 2000, same solution fixed it.
So that's the key...go to the install wizard and select REPAIR and let it fix itself.
