I'm looking into getting Nushield screen protectors for my NR_70V and I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on the product. I was going to print the old responces out before but the forum changed without notice. Any info would be great!!!!

I heard in Clie Source that nusheild arn't taking orders until the end of august as they are out of stock
I have the nusheild installed on my clie and love it. It is impossible to see/notice, and I like not having to worry over what sticky things will do. It does slip down occationall though only by a millimeter and it is not difficult to slide back.

NuShield is easy to put on and I found easy to take off. It diminished the quality of image so much that I could not accept the image quality as a fair trade for protection. I ended up with the screen protectors from Fellows. They are designed to enhance color. I also like the feel of the stylus on the Fellows screen protectors.
One of my primary concerns is battery life so I seldom use the back light and that does contribute to the situation I just mentioned.

Definitely having screen protection is better than not... it's easier to replace the protector than the screen if it does get scratched by a scuffed up stylus tip.

I finally got my Nusheilds and at first I was very impressed. The were very easy to put on, and they are very clear. The only problem I have with them is that they scratch way too easily. I guess it is better for the screen protector to be scratched than the screen but I feel that they could be better. I think they should be just a little softer to help scratch resistance. Other than that they are great, they even feel great when writing, smoother than a papermate pen on paper!!!!!

As for screen protectors in general. Nushields gets scratched up easily. After trying out a few different screen protectors, the ones I'm impressed with so far is called ClearTouch. It's the best that I've seen so far. It doesn't get scratched up easily, and feels slick to write on. It's pros: 1) It was easy to apply, and 2) air bubbles didn't show up as with others. That's been my serious pet peeve with other screen protectors I've used. It's annoying when air bubbles get trapped under the screen protector. I was pretty impressed with this one though. After I applied it, there were NO air bubbles!!! It was practically invisible except for the slight spacing on the edges, which are pretty minor.
The only drawback is that they don't carry them for every PDA.

Hope this helps.

I also find air bubbles unacceptable and I also hate to see the image downgraded by the minute opacity of most screen protectors.
I think I'll order the ClearTouch. They have good taste in their site design as well.

I can't speak for the Clear Shields, but I will back up nikflit on the Brando screen protectors. I've had a Brando on my Clie since January and it doesn't have a scratch on it. Also, no noticeable loss of clarity either. Just my too sense...

I think I have tried EVERY type of screen protector there is, including WriteRights, Brando, Nushields, and others. They either fuzz the view and give a milky look or they scratch and make my Clie look like an old piece of junk. I always thought I had to put up with these problems in order to protect my screen. Wrong.
A friend of mine had bought six G2 screen protectors from pdascreenprotectors.com, and after about a year, he still had four of them (they seem to last forever). I couldn't even tell he had a protector over his screen until he told me. I talked him into letting me have one and its been on my Clie for over 4 months without a single scratch!
These things are so clear, I can see every pixel as if nothing was over my screen and they are the most durable screen protector I've ever seen. I've heard they "stand up to steel wool", but I'm too chicken to try it.
I am recommending them to everyone I see with a PDA.

I just received Incipio technologies screen protectors. I have it on my NR70V/U for about 2 minutes and im ready to remove it. Just looking at the screen all fuzzy is giving a headache. I guess im off to try another brand. Brando has other items I have like (and at great prices) I'll guess ill give them a try. Ill b more careful as to what I "win" on Ebay next time.

I agree with Clieist. The G2 screenprotectors at www.pdascreenprotectors.com are by far the very best I have ever used. Installation takes care to ensure you don't trap dust under the protector but they are extremely durable, clear and bubble-free.

After trying many brands, I came to the decision that the adhesive ones just didn't cut it. I hate the air bubble problem and no matter how careful I am, I still get some. Then I tried the G2 and I could not fit the film between the case and the screen. It is very hard and thick. I had to send it back for a refund. My last resort was the NuShield brand. I was a little leary after reading some reviews, but after it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised.
The film was thinner than the G2 and just as clear. They must have changed films because earlier reviewers talked about milky NuShield films and this was crystal clear. The NuShield was easy to slip in, no fight at all. I have been using it now for over a month and I still don't see any scratches. NuShield has a great article on its website regarding pens that scratch the films.
I highly recommend NuShield based on my personal experience.

If you are a legitimate user, why did you post into 4 different threads within 14 minutes?
In the "Tungsten Handhelds & Software - NuShield offers Screen Protector for Tungsten" thread, you said:
I was visiting the NuShield site and saw that they have a screen protector for the Tungsten. My experience with the NuShield film has been very positive and thought you folks would like the heads up. The website is www.nushield.com
In the "CLIE N & NR Series - Nushield's" thread, you said:

In the "CLIE T Series - Screen Protectors" thread, you said:
I heard that NuShield changed its film in September and got a bad batch. I bought NuShield films last month and they are perfect. They are clear, unlike the milky films before, and they are much thinner than the G2 which is a bear to get under the case.
And in the "Handera/TRG Handhelds - NuShield Screen Protector for HandEra 330" thread you said:
Just want to let everyone know that NuShield now offers a non-adhesive, crystal clear screen protector for the 330. Check out NuShield at nushield.com
Either you own these 4 different PDAs, and you just bought nushields for all at the same time, and felt compelled to tell the world, or you work for Nushields.
In 2 of these posts, you attack the G2. Is the G2 hurting your business so much that you have to fabricate testimonials?
I find these posts very suspicious, and question your integrity, both as an individual, and as a company.

After i bought the nusheilds i was disappointed that they were so thin. Mine moves around like crazy because it is so thin. Also it just scratches to easily. After what Realguy pointed out about pdamaniac and what he said about G2 it sounds like the G2s screen protectors would be better. I dont care if they are a pain to get on (not including adhesive brands because there is now way to get them perfectly clear) and it sounds like G2 takes care of the sliding around by being thicker.

I first owned a Handspring Deluxe, and then early this year I bought a Sony Clie N760. I wanted to protect the screen, and searched the web for "the best PDA screen protector".
I found the G2, at http:\\www.pdascreenprotectors.com, and it is in my opinion one of the best. It is a non-adhesive, incredibly durable plastic protector. It is custom-cut to fit each type of PDA, and has a slight curve to it, so that when you insert it (tricky!) the curve faces upward and provides a slight bit of friction (?traction?) so that it doesn't slide around and doesn't pop out: the cover is cut to be slightly larger than the screen, so you kinda hafta bend it and rotate it to get it to pop in under the rim.
Not to worry, tho. There are clear instructions included with the cover. I initially bought two of them, thinking I'd have a backup when the first one wore out; I've since sold my backup to a buddy because there are no signs of my first and only one wearing out. I do admit to one small scratch in the bottom-left; I live near the beach, and I believe a -small- piece of sand got between my stylus and the protector.
Each one used to cost about $8; I think they now sell them in 2-packs for about $14. Quite a good deal.
Oh, and by the way, why am I going on and on about screen protectors? I'm a med student on call right now, and have some free time on my hands. Hopefully it will stay this way for another 3.5 hours...!:D

My curiosity got the best of me, and it only gets worse!
pdamaniac has posted 4 times here in the PDA Street forums to ADVERTISE his nushield protectors by masquerading as a regular user.
But that's nothing compared to the 16 posts he has in the Brighthand forums...

...every post is about nushield or the virtue of non-adhesive protectors (except 2 for Klear Screen, also sold by nushield).
I wonder how many other forums have his fake testimonials?
I regularly visit forums to see what USERS think about different things. The last thing I need is a manufacturer posting phony testimonials and bashing their competition under the guise of a regular user! This undermines the whole point of discussion forums.
I personally stay away from any company using deception and manipulation to gain my business.

Not to sound like i work for the G2 company but I just got them in the mail today and WOW!. They are thicker than the Nushields and are very clear. They were a little hard to get in at first but that little bump was well worth it.
When I had nusheilds, the protector always shifted when writing. It also scratched way too easily. After a week it was near imposible to see the icons for home screen ad such.
The G2's sem to be all that nushield couldne be. Since they are thicker they don't slide around at all. They also seem very scratch resistant. They are very smooth to write on too. I believe I am going to be a G2 customer for a while lol.
Also when I got the G2 I took my old protector off and wow, the screen is still like new. I just can't emphasize enough about the importance of screen protectors. How many of you people agree with that!!!

For those who use G2 or nushield:
Do you experience "Newton Rings," rainbow colored rings that form when two very smooth transparent surfaces come into close contact. Here's a pic: http://bednorzmuller87.phys.cmu.edu/demonstrations/optics/interference/demo326.html
I have really been through a lot of screen protectors. Best = ClearGuard. They don't have any rings or glue.

Yes. I use the G2's and experience the "Newton Rings". I never knew there was a name for this but when I read another post earlier today about a "rainbow" appearance, I knew that was it.
This is only noticeable when you look down AND from the side of the PDA and I happened to notice it by accident as this is not normally how you would look at a PDA in real use.
This said, I still regard the G2 as the BEST screen protector I have ever used. I'm still on my first one for 6 months and running now without a problem.
