I have an iPAQ 5450 that issued me an error message stating that the temperature was not with the 0 to 60 C range and therefor the main battery would not be charged. The iPAQ itself, nor the battery, feels hotter than normal. The iPAQ has been being used indoors. Does anyone know something about this error message or the context inwhich it might occur. A link to a site with more detailed information on this type of error would be great too if one exists.

I've only seen this when I had it sitting in the car while driving last summer. Had the windows open, air conditioning off, but the 5455 was sitting in the sun - got too warm. After I put it in the shade, and it got cooler, it was fine. After that, I was more careful where I had it sitting and I haven't seen this issue since.
From what I understand, the chemical composition of the batteries wouldn't typically heat them enough while charging to cause this. A replacement battery that was made by another company could possibly (although doubtful) heat up more, causing the iPAQ to stop charging until the temperature drops.
As for a web site, I haven't seen one, but there very well may be one or more out there.

Similar story. I had my 5455 in the windshield with my Navman GPS sleeve. I was also running my Pocket Warrior software. After awhile it stopped responding and I noticed that the WAN light and charge lights were not blinking. Picked it up and it was pretty hot. Would not respond to any button pushes or screen taps. Hit the reset button, it reset but was still not responding. Let it cool off and it started working again. Been fine ever since.
