I am going to buy a Portable Pc or PPC. It is called Compaq iPAQ 3765 Color POcket PC. It is exactly what i want trust me. I looked at recent moddles but this one is the one that is perfect for me. I am also buying a HP/Compaq PA840U Stowaway Portable Keyboard for HP/Compaq. It is the second object im buying an third a iConcepts Universal PDA Starter Kit. I wish to get internet in my PPC to be able to chat using msn but also be able to use my big keyboard. What objects must i buy? I am in a budget but i can spnd a bit more money. I have little time because i plan to use it in school to be able to take notes and possibly use msn. I also want to know if anyone here can recomend a web page that has any free games i may download, a explanation of what i must do to read my e-book that is in format .pdf and last but not least a memory expansion. I say these things to get ideas because i do not plan to buy them all but to get the eccensials and maybe in the future get more upgrades for my PPC. So mainly what i want to ask is:

1. Is all those items worth it by items i mean the PPC, Keyboard, Starter Set.
2. Can I get a web page that provides free simple games for PPC
3. Explanation on how the internet service works and the objects i need to be able to use msn messager and my keyboard.
4. A explanation of what to do to read my e-books that are format .pdf on the PPC
5. Links to places that sell memory expansions and what types work and dont work with my PPC

PS: Thanks to all who may help.

I'm assuming you already know that 3700 series ipaq is old and discontinued model, one thing to be aware of is that because it's been released for a few years, you may have some problems with battery.

1> It also has no expansion slot, so you will need to get expansion sleeve to allow you to use CF or PCMCIA cards such as memory or wifi card.

3>You can do a search to get more information, you will need to decide how you want to connect to the internet.
4>Adobe has free reader,

5>Any CF memory card (type I and type II) will work.

I want to be able to get internet and use big keyboard trust me i tryed it but i could not find a good explanation. You see i have 56k and i want to use internet because my school is only about 1 or 2 miles away. So is there anything i can buy to add the keyboard and internet at once? www.amazon.com has items but i dont know wich to use and yeah im aware that its old but it works perfectly for what i need because i only need it to do my schoolwork like if it were a notebook :p and to listen to music and use msn messager thats all i need and that one has it all maybe in the future i can get a better version :P. But please give me sites that thoughroughly explain the internet options i use a dail up 56k lan ( in 7 months dsl comes to my house) i live in Puerto Rico and i dont know how it would work so please if you give a option please make sure it works is PR.

EDIT*

i cheked the amazon pages out and found this http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005AKV3/ref=ase_pdagroove/104-0618046-8792707?v=glance&s=electronics can anyone explain what it is. For what i understand its either a battery or more memory can anyone explain what it is?

You will need an adapter sleeve like AD said. I would suggest a dual slot CF sleeve so that you can have a modem and memory card at the same time. I have the Nexian adapter sleeve. It has 2 compact flash slots and it has a battery that can power the iPaq and the cards inserted into it. I have a folding keyboard as well and my ipaq and sleeve works fine with the keyboard. Here is a link to a place to buy this card.

Nexian Adapter (http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/davesipaq/product.asp?pdept%5Fid=&cat%5Fid=101&cat%5Fname=&dept%5Fid=3709&pf%5Fid=MP730943&listing=1)

Next you will need a memory card to hold your music files. MP3 files take up a lot of space. I would recommend getting the larges card that you budget can afford. Here are some memory cards on the same website as the Nexian card I mentioned above.

Memory cards (http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/davesipaq/listing.asp?cat%5Fid=101&cat%5Fname=Pocket+PC+Devices&pdept%5Fid=900021&dept%5Fid=1445&dept%5Fname=CompactFlash+)

Last you will need a modem card. This will allow you to dial up to the Internet. I live in the US. I do not know if your telephone systems in PR are compatible with US systems. I do not know if a modem I would recommend for the US would work on your island. Hopefully you will know that. Are you able to purchase a telephone from the US and use it at your home? If so, our modems should work as well. Here is another link for modems.

Modems (http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/davesipaq/listing.asp?cat%5Fid=101&cat%5Fname=Pocket+PC+Devices&pdept%5Fid=37&dept%5Fid=4401&dept%5Fname=Wired+Modems)

Once you have all the hardware you will be able to cruise the web, do MSN, and check email. The sleeve adapter and the memory card do not need any software to make them work. Simply plug them into the iPaq. The model will need software. Simply follow the instructions that come with whichever modem you choose. If you need help come back here with detailed instructions on what you need help with.

Once you get DSL in your home you will need to change from the modem to either a wired or wireless network card in order to take advantage of your high speed DSL lines. Come back here when that happens and someone can help you choose a new card.

Good Luck with it,
Reidan

First of all thanks. That nexian addapter is to expensive. Do they have a simmilar one for a lower price. Im getting the:

EzJack 56K CompactFlash Modem
Access your corporate network, e-mail and the Internet from your PDA

and this:

128MB CompactFlash Card
Kingston Technology 128MB CompactFlash Memory For your Digital Camera or PDA.

or this:

128MB CompactFlash card with PC Card Adapter
Kingston Technology 128MB Compact Flash Includes Type II PC Card Adapter

deppending on which you reccomend i have 100 dollars left to spend on things. But all i would need is a memory the modem and the extencion thing to add them. 100 dolllar budget :p i wish i could spend more but thats all i have left to spend.

is this one better?

128MB CompactFlash Card
CompactFlash is the world's most popular removable mass storage device.

it costs lest but i dont know if its better.

I thought this over. someone whgo rly know about this tell me the items i should buy. And ill check them out. I am horrible and picking and i get confused. All i know is it cannot go over 100 dollars or 90 because it probbly costs about 10 dollars or so for SyH please make it resonable because i want a internet card. A memory and the add on the can let me use internet and the keyboard. The memory can be optional. Because i think they sell those types of memorys at compusa. Please awnser soon.

Try eBay and see if you can find one on there. Here is a dual slot PCMCIA card with a CF adapter that you could use.

eBay Link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29848&item=5712445408&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW)

Might also be able to find cheaper modem and memory cards on eBay.

Ok here is the deal. I dont trust bids like that. I want internet and the addapter. I dont know if that one of the bid thing is what im looking ofr if it is then ill get it. Tell me please. But also give me a page where i can get them fully new. I want the connection to the internet thing. Is it possible to get a item that is connected to your pc while its online and a card or somethin g you can add to the PPC? If not please explain how the service works? Do i need to pay for the service? Please give me a web page with all the eccensials i need to use the internet and use the keyboard. Please if its cheap better. And it does not matter if its ussed it also does not matter. And last but not least if you find a item please both at the same place.

Have you bought the 3765 yet ?

How much will it cost you ?

Just thinking it could be that buying a newer model might work out cheaper overall. Or looking at a second hand kit where all the other bits you need are already included.

You can find tons of links for new hardware all over the Internet. The problem is your budget. I do not think you can get everything new and keep it under $100.

Since you do not like bidding on eBay, here is a web site that specializes in selling used PDA's and accessories. He should have what you are looking for.
