Hi guys,
This is my first post as iQue soldier 9141xxxx reporting for duty.
Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I got it!!!!!!!!
I just received a totally brand new iQue by way of RMA from Garmin. It took 5 weeks but why they could not have done that in the first week is anyone's guess. They also gave me new unlock codes for my maps. The only down side is that she came preloaded with r2 so I'll have to upgrade later tonight.
I notice the QueTrip comes with 270 meters on the clock with amazingly, a stopped time of 1m 49s so maybe my QueTrip problem is now a thing of the past. Whether the GPS screen will stop spinning around now, I will have to wait and see.
So, he's back. Everyone's favourite B-o-k-k-i-e is back. After 5 weeks alone and lost in space, I will no doubt have some really dumb questions to ask later on. For now, I shall let my new puppy fully charge itself.
It's a hap-hap-happy day, got my new iQue, hooray, I just can't wait to play, it's a hap-hap-happy day.

Hi Bokkie !
So you were right !! my RMA was holding yours and yours mine !!!
I received today my new iQUE, also a 9141xxxx serial #...

while your here, how long should I first charge my unit before installing ? 1 hour (as told by Garmin) or more ?

The smart money says 4 hours I think it was mentioned a good while back. I'm also going to download the track log of the mystery meters as I believe that is attributable to the test drive Garmin Taiwan do when the units are assembled.
I have this picture of some wily orientals running around their car park muttering: "Ah-so! Dis Grarmin iQrue is charged and battry say he ok, so I ok as well. Me see, ah-so, sarrelites in skry and mean that we harra GPS frix. Ah! We indeed do. Now I must runner back to fractory and sen vis iQrue to Radio Brokkie atta PDA frorum."
:D

Congratulations what are you going to name your new bokkie er baby?
BTW, IMO, the reason they tell you to let it fully charge before doing anything is to keep you from having the battery die while you are doing something important like an update and to make sure the first time around the battery gets fully charged. I've always ignored this, I just make sure it stays on the cradle with power going to it all the time until it fully charged, unless I need to take it off for a second or two. Obviously don't do the upgrade to R3 on a low battery but you can certainly load data and do syncing. This is my opinion only, not Garmin's policy.

If Curioso Catticus Cringicus says hotsyncy-wyncy, then that's good enough me.
Seriously, though: what do I do with the maps considering they are installed on my pc at work and home and registered to my original serial number? Garmin gave me unlock codes so they'd done the work for me. Do I need to uninstall CS6 and start afresh. But neither do I want the new serial number to effectively be my second unlock of two unlock codes as the new is effectively a replacement of the first.
Any advice?

You "should" be able to just put in the new codes.

How? Where? It's been a long time since I last did this so I don't remember. But then again, that's not the first time this week I've had that problem.
Here new name? To commerate 5 weeks without her it has to be Betty-Late van Never.

Thanks CC. Unfortunately my Panasonic card is at home. I have my old SanDisk here at work but it would be a crime to poison my new iQue so early on. I'll probably have to follow the unlock issue with y'all later on.
Maybe I need a sticker: "Caution! This iQue contains traces of Sandisk" :D
Tonight is a tricky evening. I go out for my first mountain bike ride at 21:00 to test my new lights on the trail at night. I've had so many new goodies this week that I feel just like a kid at Christmas again. Cool!:)

If that's the same 256MB slow SanDisk you had before, AKA turd, then unless you really enjoyed the RMA process I wouldn't let it near baby Betty.
Can't you take the day off, you just had your new baby delivered? :D

Not trying to rain on your party, but if it's new, why does it have r2 on it and why is the serial number 9141xxx. I got my unit about a month ago with R3 and it's s/n is 9145xxxx

That's precisely what I was thinking as well. I too could not understand why it had r2. I can only think they've had these in stock for quite a long time, or maybe the assembly line that flashes the iQue has not been upgraded.
Perhaps they were told to dump them at any cost.
Enter stage right......Bokkie. (Why are the audience laughing at me).

Bokkie,
Over the course of the past 5 weeks that you've been without an iQ, everything has completely changed. In untrained (or non-current) hands, your new iQ could wreak havoc with the total GPS constellation and maybe with the entire universe as we know it. So please be very careful with that thing; it's not a toy.:D

The serial numbers probably only indicate the order they came off of the assembly line. What happens to them afterwards is anybody's guess. Some lots could be shipped to BF Egypt, others to Alaska and maybe even some to Olathe (do the locals use GPS?). Anyway, a batch with a later S/N sequence could quickly empty off of the shelves, while an earlier sequence may be sitting elsewhere yet to be sold?! I believe that this is as plausible explanation as any other, don't you?

You gotta be kidding, VI. You are trying to make me feel better for being the esteemed recipient of old stock?:)

Then again, maybe older is better. I RMAd my original iQue (reset and screech problem), got a 9144xxxx back a month ago, but it had different problems (static burst from the speaker every few minutes, poor cradle connection), and I have just send that second unit back on RMA.

Welcome back, Bokkie! I hope Betty's baby sister treats you better. I'll just keep chugging along with Betty's grandmother (9026) She has never given me a problem though I may have given her a few. Have fun not funbobs... :p

Thanks Ken. I must admit that I took her outside this morning and propped her up against a brick and left her to her own devices to get her first UK fix. Darned if she wasn't up and running within 4 minutes.
And the battery life is much improved! So far, so good!
