I'm having a problem getting my ipaq to recognize my cell phone.

I have an ipaq h5550 and a motorola v60s cell phone. I bought a gomadic cable to connect the two.

I connected the two and set up a modem connection on the ipaq as it says in their directions. But when I try to connect it can't connect because of "an unknown reason". I don't see any any activity on the phone. However it does know somethings plugged into because it beeps everytime I connect or disconnect the cable.

I've tried everything I can think of... does anyone know how to get this to work?

Okay, I'm blind. Or I'm having one of those days where you look and look and the second you ask for help you find the solution.

If you have keyboard software disable it and that will free the port on the Ipaq.

Olydus is referring to this:

I don't see v60x listed though, you should contact them to see if it's compatible.

thats great!

ill have to order that bad boy next month and give it a whirl.

olydus,
how exactly do u connect?
do u have to program an isp number in?
i have a cable connection at home so im unsure of how i would make the phone access the internet..

would i need to set up an account with say juno that had like 10 free hours a month of dial up service? and just call into that?

Yes, you need an isp to dial in to. After you get the cable you'll go into the modem settings and add the phone number there. There's good directions in the support section on the Gomadic site. It's pretty simple except for that "disable the keyboard" part. :)

Good luck!
