I have a IPAQ 3850 that was working fine until a week ago. I have a number of files copied from my WMP PC on to my SD card.
Since I removed the files I keep getting an error on any music copied.

Error is: "The licence for this file cannot be found. Use WMP on your PC to copy the file to your device again". This I have done a number of times. The next error comes when you OK this "WMP cannot find the file. You may not be connected to the network, the file may be removed, or you may have entered an incorrect file name or path".

I contacted Compaq support and they asked me to hard rest, but this has not resolved it.

They now say that I have deleted the licence (but I have no idea what they are talking about).

Also on WMP on my PC under Mobile devise my storage card is not recognised so I cannot move file to it.

Please, please can someone help!!!

Legman

NB I have both WMP 8.0 and WMP 8.0 update on my IPAQ.

Hey
When I first got my iPaq (I have 3835) I was having the same problem. I thought I was doing everything right but I kept getting the msg. (this only occured for files I copied directly from CD's)
Yea and same here the Compaq website was not much help.

I used a CD coping program (Easy CD creator) to extract the files to a folder onto my computer first then I moved them onto the pocket pc. I would either move them to /My Documents or directly to the SD card via active sync Explore feature.

When you directly copy the songs from CD's the licence is not (this feature was added to the pocket pc to discourage piracy, well at least thats what I read on some web site, after struggling with copying the songs.

It seemed like no body knew what I was talking about but one day I just tried it and it worked.

If your SD card is not being recognized try taking it out, soft reset your pocket pc and then put it back in and then my ppc asked me to format it or something like that
(When I originally try to install it (or insert it) nothing happened and after I did that it worked)

I hope this helped just a little

Greetings;

You need to change a setting on you desktops media player. Goto Options and chose the CD audio tab and deselect the "enable personal rights management" choice. Then you will not have a problem moving music files. Also make sure that you have your music in a folder called "MY Documents" on your memory cards.
