Just read the press releases for G phone.

Am I to believe what I'm reading?

Anyone used G phone yet?

How do you rate it?

Given the zero replies to my post I will take the answer as no it does not work.

Come on Palm get your act together - give us TC users access to Skype.

Pocket PC users have access to it - why not us?

If you agree post a reply and lets get a petition going to 'finally' VOiP on our TC.

I've tried it and it works well. I set up a direct SIP call to an FXS gateway at the office and managed to set up a session. I don't have a headset for my TC yet so I can't say anything about the audio quality. When using playback with the built-in speakers there was a noticable delay though.

An update: I tried it again with a Nokia mobile phone headset. Audio quality is pretty awful, with a lot of background noise. It's not in the headset, I tried the headset with a voice recorder application and got quite decent audio quality. I did this test both with an AudioCodes FXS gateway and the X-Lite SIP UAC on MacOSX.

On another note, proxy registration doesn't work (won't register with the location server), but calling through a proxy works well. I used the SER proxy for this test.

Overall, the product has potential. They need to fix the audio quality and proxy registration though.

Cheers/Fredrik
