does anyone know how to download and install the Encarta dictionary recommmended in the Nov Pocket PC page 81? When I download it asks for a program to open it and nothing I have worked. When I accessed the site through the iPAQ it would not go to the download address (a question by itself), only to the contact page

Here's the link:

It's actually an e-book(.lit) format, just download it and transfer it using activesync to the folder that you have your e-book on your ipaq (ie. My Documents), open your MS Reader and you should see it there.

Thank you! Although you presume a level of proficiency I do not posess. Without actual understanding of any of this, owning my first pocket pc for only a few days, I right clicked on the file saved to my desktop and chose the send to Pocket PC documents. Not finding this on the iPAQ, I then searched the pc and found it had been created in My Documents. There was no My Documents synch option in active synch so I chose the closest alternative - Files and then managed to send it there, after failing on a drag and drop attempt. It then proceeded to synch a bunch of unidentified stuff in addition to the dictionary, but I did get it there. A complete learning experience that I sure I will have to re-enact if I ever again attempt such a feat!
Is it possible to unload these things after the fact without a hardboot?

I'm not completely sure of what you have on your iPAQ that you don't want but ...
If it is installed software on the iPAQ: Tap "Start" then tap "Settings" then tap the "Systems" tab. Find the "Remove Programs" application and tap it. Select the application or program that you want to delete and tap the "delete" button... then close the "Remove Programs" application.
If you just did a "copy and paste" to the iPAQ: just delete the file. To do that, tap "Start" then tap "File Explorer" go to where the files are and "touch and hold" (do not tap) the stylus on the file to be deleted. after a second or two you will get a "box" open with several options that you can tap -- one will be delete. Repeat as necessary...

Thanks. I discovered the remove programs. Oddly enough it was not actually effective in removing a program I selected. Apparently in was linked to another.
I likewise tried searching under file explorer which does not list anything, although there are a number of data base files in my aviation program I would like to remove
