DrMud I need help with Ir Sync on 505

I fully know how to Ir sync a Vx and have had no problem what soever. But 4.0 devices are a nightmare. The Wireless Link always pops up and interferes with the IR. What is the deal

I have not had this problem. MY Palm 515 is OS4.1. What are you setting in "Connections?" Are you trying to sync to the IR on a laptop or an IR on a PC? What OS on the PC/Laptop? Were you syncing your Palm Vx to the same PC?

It is a Toshiba late model laptop running W2K. All the IR sync settings are proper. Both a 505 and a 500 running 4.0 will not work. I get interference on the COM port from the Wireless Link

I have no answer for you. But I would suggest the following:
1). Email Palm Tech support and ask if this is a "known issue" and if so if you can be given the link to the information in their knowledge base.
2). Consider using the OS 4.1 upgrade on the Palm.com site. Upgrade the OS on one of your Palms and see if after the upgrade your Palm still exhibits this ineffective behavior.
In the interim I will contact a friend in Holland that uses IrDA in a number of ways and see if he has encountered this conflict.

Check out this link for info on a different port driver for the LapTop. Do you still have the Vx and does it still connect by IR to the LapTop?
