I'm having trouble synching Netscape 7.0 e-mail with my Palm 500. The hot synch operation works fine, but I can't get the e-mail messages to show up on my palm. What am I doing wrong?

The hot synch operation works fine, but I can't get the e-mail messages to show up on my palm. What am I doing wrong? DrMud 11-06-2002, 09:23 PM QUOTE FROM PALM.COM: If you are using Netscape Mail and would like to syncrhonize your e-mail, you must have Netscape version 4.7 or higher. You also must set up Netscape as your default e-mail program by using the following procedure: In the Control Panel, select Internet Options. Click the Programs tab. In the E-mail drop-down list, select Netscape. Click the Apply and then click OK. Next, you will need to configure Netscape for MAPI by using the following steps: In Netscape's Edit menu, select Preferences. Click on Mail & Newsgroups and then select the "Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI-based applications" check box. Click OK. Configure the HotSync(R) Mail conduit for Outlook Express. Perform a HotSync operation to test the settings. vjksuarez 11-07-2002, 06:11 PM Thanks for your reply, unfortunetly I tried what you suggested and still cannot get my e-mail to down load. I tried swithching to Outlook Express and still have the same problem. I checked the hot synch log and noticed that both dataviz mail and regular mail show up as O.K during the synch. Also when I was trying your earlier suggestion I noticed that Netscape 7.0 does not have a check box for "Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI Applications". However I was able to complete all the other instructions. I failed to mention earlier that I'm running XP and have McAfee Viruscan installed on my Palm. Could that have anything to do with my problem? Again, thanks for your earlier reply. Vic Suarez DrMud 11-07-2002, 07:02 PM 1). Palm viruses are almost unknown. They can only come on board hidden in a game or other app. Say goodby McAfee! 2). Generally if the problem is XP the issues occurs early inthe hotsync process. I tis not selective to the mail app or address book. When the Palm Mail conduit looks for mail the mail must be in the First Folder maked "INBOX." What is the Dataviz mail syncing to? Doc vjksuarez 11-07-2002, 08:34 PM I deleted Viruscan, DataVizmail, and I reset Outlook Express to be my default mail account. I finally downloaded a e-mail message. I think I know what the problem is, in Outlook Express my first Inbox is a local folder and my second in box is my online account. If I dragg my e-mail message to my local folder inbox then it will synch with my palm. The question now is how do I either remove my local folder or make my online Inbox the first one? Also still no luck with netscape 7.0, I tried again to follow your earlier instructions, but I can't find the "Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI based applications" check box. Any other advise would be helpful. Thanks again for your help so far. Victor Suarez DrMud 11-08-2002, 08:05 AM Victor, The folder / inbox can be a real hassel. And you are right about making changes. I tried to do a reinstall but had missed some OL Express preference files that set it back like it was! As to Netscape and MAPI I personally do not use Netscape and the infor I passed on came from a netscape user I know. I tried yesterday to get him to respond, as soon as I hear anything I'll be back! Doc vjksuarez 11-08-2002, 08:25 AM Thanks Doc, I appreciate your help. Vic roRisc 11-10-2002, 08:34 PM Hello guys.. I have the exact same problem with my Visor Neo. There is no "Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI based applications" option in Edit|Preferences|Mail and Newsgroups... In Netscape's Help is said that "Use Netscape Mail as your default application" is (strangely) the MAPI option too. [just search for MAPI] Anyhow.. I'm using Netscape 7.0 on a XP box... I seem having more luck with my Visor on Linux.. but hten again Netscape won't synch mail. Thanks If this problem has no positive answer then, what other Email App is best suitable for email? Other: Hot Sync performs with no error messages. Same as vjksuarez the mail won't sync. Kurb 12-16-2002, 04:12 PM So what did you do? I've the Clie T615C and am having the exact same problems? I'm using Netscape and have had trouble synching the email even when I had a Palm V. Thanks! PDA Street
