My series 7 has suddenly stopped connecting to the web. I use a Dacom Gold Card modem, but this isn't the problem because it doesn't get as far as the modem when I try to connect.

When I go into Web the status window shows "Initialising" and the screen remains blank. In Email the status window shows "Connecting to Internet" but it obviously isn't. It was working fine up until the day before yesterday, and I have no idea what's wrong.

All suggestions welcome, as always!

Cheers,

Sarah

When I go into Web the status window shows "Initialising" and the screen remains blank It could be a modem hardware problem if failing to initialise is due to the modem not responding. Try checking the modem with the Comms application; there are instructions on this page (http://www.mgmcc.myby.co.uk/Modemprobs.htm) of my website. If the modem does respond alright, you may have a corrupt Commsdb.dat file. Try renaming it (to hide it from the Operating system) then enter all of your settings again in Control Panel - Dialling/Modems/Internet. A new Commsdb.dat file will be created automatically which contains the default stttings from ROM - this includes the Dacom Gold Card modem settings.

The Commsdb.dat file is in the path C:\System\Data\Commsdb.dat
