Bought my E-100 used about a week ago and the unit charged up fine (Green LED on while charging). @ days ago I plugged it in to charge and no Green LED. Thought maybe the LED itself died but the unit WASN'T charging and finally wouldn't go on at all. I'm taking the AC adaptor in tomorrow to see if it's what's broken. If it isn't, I read some posts that talked about jiggling the battery lock. (I've tried that, no dice). Is this a common problem with these units? If so, is it fixable?

It may be your main battery is dead. I had the same problems and had to replace the main battery and everything worked fine! Casio sells it for $35.

Had the same problem. I just bought a new charger and it works fine. This was about 6 months ago, and everything is still fine, at least in that area.

I and another friend have had to buy new AC adapters. I'm not sure whether it is the innards or the wire lead that fails, but it is a weak part of the system. My suspicion is that the bending at the attachment to the charger box eventually cracks the wire inside and you lose power.
If you have a friend with an E-100 or E-105 try their charger. Otherwise try one of the generic voltage charger (try Radio Shack, tell the clerk you want to test if it works with your PDA, if it does then buy it, you have an answer) If you get a green light, then it was your charger.

PLEASE don't try the Radio Shack variety for the sake of your PDA.

The original Casip charges are input side protected to prevent any damage to the device should your mains supply go berserk or fluctuate abnormally.

99 out of 100 times when the charger goes bad it is an internal fuse that has blown.

Unfortunately you will not find the right kind of screw driver ( it has a special security type head ) to open the device at yuour neighbourhood Ace or TrueValue hardware store.

So far as you are concerned either the battery or the charger could be faulty.

Try the charger on any device ( Diskman - MD player ) with 6 volt AC adapter input ( check the polarity & size ) for its functionality. Then you would know exactly what is wrong. Or have a technician test the output with a multimeter with controlled load on it.

Hope this helps.
