Please help!!
I recently purchased a NR70V and its working great but for one problem. When I open and rotate the screen, and then close it, it turns off. The hold icon comes on and it goes blank.
The hold button is off, however. I can get it to come on if I soft reset it but its upside down. Seems to be a software problem??

Sorry I don't have a fix for ya but I can explain why the problem happens so you may be able to narrow your search to find a solution. The screen has a built in hols switch for when you play music. You don't have to flip the hold switch all you have to do is fold the clam shell down and it automatically turns of the screen and shuts off all the buttons. Its a grat function when you are on the go but in your case it is not. On your units it sounds like you have broken the switch to the screen function. There is a switch in the swivel screen that let your screen know that when you have twisted it, what screen orientation it needs to display. Since your screen scwitch is broken, at least it sounds that way, it still thinks you are in the laptop mode so when you close it to tablet mode it goes in to hold like it were actually closed. Here is a question for ya though, when you flip the screen to go into tablet mode, but have not yet folded the unit into tablet mode does the screen invert it self to be up side down like you were going to put it in tablet mode? It should invert itself right there so if it doesn't it probably means that the switch in the swivel scree is broken. Sorry I couldn't help more, but if it is still under warrantee you might try calling sony to see if it covered.

Hi,
Thanks for the input.
The screen does indeed "flip" during the swivel action but then up comes the dreaded "hold" after 1 or 2 seconds.
You've given me some thoughts though - watch this space!

Thanks for asking the question. I was stymied as to why my three-day old Clie wouldn't work. Thanks to your question and the answers that were provided, I figured out it was the stupid hold button.
