I'm really confused about the different Windows CE Types, especially those on the H/PCs. I'm in the process of deciding what machine is right for me.
But there are machines with WinCe 2.0, 2.11, 3.0 and WinCe for Handheld PC2000. But (like in the thread before) then there is the H/PC Pro Version 3 with 2.11 core??
On the webpage of ACDSee for windows Ce it says: Minimum requirement:
Windows CE 3.0 or higher and two lines down it says min. requirement Handheld PC2000.
Is Windows CE3.0 the same then Windows CE for Handheld PC 2002??? and most important would software (like ACDsee for win Ce) designed for Windows CE 3.0 run on the Jornada 680 with WinCe Pro3.0?

I would appreciate is somebody would help me out...

Thanks so much
Herbert

I hope the following helps:

1st model handheld: HPC which uses Windows Ce 1.0, then 2.0
2nd model handheld: HPC/PRO which uses Windows Ce 2.11
3rd model handheld: HPC 2000 which uses Windows Ce 2000
which is the same as Windows Ce 3.0

NOTE: Pocket Pc's uses Windows Ce 3.0. Programs designed to
run on pocket pc's, with VERY few exceptions WILL NOT
run on the HPC 2000 handheld. This is due to the
formating of screen real estate. You will have to determine
that the program is for the HPC/Pro or 2000 handheld. If
it says PPC or P/PC it is for the smaller pocket pc's. Also
the HP Jornada 720, 728 (HPC 2000) use the Strongarm
processor, which a lot of HPC/PRO software will not run on
it. The Intermec 6651 (HPC 2000) has a MIPS processor
and all HPC & HPC/PRO software runs on it. In addition
the Intemec has a beautiful active matrix screen and
800x600 resolution. I have both units and GREATLY prefer
the Intermec 6651.

I hope all of the above helps.
