I'm new - got my Ique 3600 today!

Having troublr getting mapsource to recognize my device. Does not show up when I want to transfer to or from device. Hot sync works fine. Says something about setting gps interface to "Garmin or host" Where do I do that?

First of all, which version of Mapsource are you using? The latest version (6.3) available for free download from Garmin's website offers improved connectivity. Connecting to/from the iQue relies on the Palm desktop hotsync capability, since there is no direct connection between Mapsource and the iQue. Make sure that you Palm desktop setting are correct, since Mapsource simply looks for the Palm User ID associated with your iQue.

I'm using 6.3. Under mapsource info it has a button for USB drivers and when I click on it it says "No USB drivers installed".

Guess I'm confused as hotsync works. Is there another driver for Mapsource?

Looks like you didn't understand the last message. There is NO WAY to transfer maps, etc. DIRECTLY from MapSource to the IQue. The USB drivers it is talking about are for transfering maps to OTHER Garmin GPS devices, not the IQue.

What MapSource does is "transfer" the maps to IQue by copying them into the PalmDesktop directory for the IQue username so that they will be copied to the IQue the next time you HotSync.

Got it.

I was able to transfer the maps after reinstalling. I was not getting any device to show up even to hotsync. It is worling now.

It does not allow for routes. Is that correct?

Maps only.
If you install Garmin's Transfer waypoints utility, then you can extract waypoints from an mps file, which has been previously exported from Mapsource.
There is also an Tracks conduit, which will save the tracks each time you do a hotsync. You can then open track from iQue, and look at the last saved. It will be updated on each hotsync.
