Desktop operation of Palm?

I appologize if this has been addressed before, but is there any software that allows a user to control a Palm through the desktop while the Palm is in its cradle? Something similar to the Palm emulator except you would actually be controlling your actual Palm.

There is a program called keyboard that is supposed to do this. I have not tried it yet.
