Are you using the install disk that came with the Vx? tomtomtomtom 08-28-2004, 06:25 PM I am using windows 98 and am using the original install disk. Hope that helps. tomtomtomtom 08-28-2004, 06:26 PM The computer is a Dell Jim Cooke 08-29-2004, 03:21 AM Are you using a serial port or USB port? It sounds like something is also using the port that's in your startup folder or the registry. When you install the Palm software, it is apparently able to override whatever program is occupying the same port. As soon as you reboot, the offending program takes over the port and the Palm won't sync. The first thing to try is to move everything in your startup folder to a temporary folder and see if this allows you to sync after a reboot. If it does, it will be a matter of going through the programs in the startup folder to see what might be causing the problem. JohnKes 08-29-2004, 04:14 PM Jim, Have you ever heard of Palm Desktop taking over a Parallel Port? That happens to me every time I reboot my Dell: WinXP Pro, P4. I have to do a workaround every time I want to print. Jim Cooke 08-29-2004, 05:13 PM John, I've never heard of a parallel port problem being caused by any Palm software. Have you tried going to Device Manager adn uninstalling the parallel port? Windows should find it when you reboot and then reinstall the port driver. I guess it's possible that the driver is corrupt so this might work. I'd also check your BIOS settings and make sure there's nothing strange there. Parallel ports are usually about the most troublefree things in Windows so I don't have a clue what could be causing a problem like you describe really. PDA Street
