Often when I test Windows CE devices at the local CompUSA I notice the screen has "flexibility". In other words when you press the stylus to the screen, the screen bulges inwards and is not firm.
Does the Dell Axim X30 have a "flexible" touch screen? I'm looking for a Windows CE device with a firm screen.
Hope I'm making sense - it's 6 in the morning :)
Thanks,

The x3i and x30 seem pretty solid. Many cursor units have a thin layer over the screen, that is how they work.
most of the newer units i've tried seem quite solid in nature even though I think there is the double layer on them.
I have older ce units that you get that sense that the thing you are tapping is plyable.

The screen must have a *little* flex to it, so it can work properly.
HowStuffWorks has a good explanation on how Touch Screens work and why they have to be flexible - http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question716.htm
Also - for the curious - some description of how PDA's work is here - http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/pda.htm
I could be imagining it, but some screens have way more flexibility to them than others - could be the type of screen. None of my Palm OS devices seem to have anywhere near as much flex to them as any of my handhelds or PocketPC's. And the age doesn't seem to matter either - my iPAQ 3650 doesn't have as much as my iPAQ 5455.
One of my kids has a Pixter - it's screen flexibility is way more than any of my PDA's, however, it is needed to register the screen taps.
Hope this makes some sense too.

Makes sense - thanks for the help.
My Tungsten T3 has no "flex" to it at all and I hope the X30 which I will order next week is not like a trampoline :)

Hope that I am not too late! As a T3 and Axim X30 owner I can say based on experience that the X30's screen is quite soft - trampoline-like I would say.
In fact, I was and continue to be much more impressed with the T3's construction and screen especially compared to the X30's.
Not that I hate the X30, it seems to be a nice machine especially for the price. However, not constructed like the T3.
