Hi, I just wanted to ask a question about transferring programs from one plam to another. I have a Tungsten T with the 5.0 OS and want to upgrade to a Tungsten C with the 5.2.1 OS. I don't want to loose my programs which I purchased from third parties (i.e Pocket Quicken, Ewallet, etc). Is there any way to transfer programs from one palm to another like one can do hard drives when he or she purchases a new computer? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

First, back up all your current files in the Palm folder, just in case. Next, install the T|C desktop over the T|T desktop. Sync your T|C, being careful to select the same username as the one you have now - don't type in a new user name.
OS 5.21 is a relatively minor upgrade to OS 5.0 in terms of programs. Everything that's on your T|T should sync just fine to your T|C.

I hate to sound ignorant, but how do you back up your files in the Palm folder. I know when I purchased the programs, I installed them in the Palm Desktop and synced them over, but I am not sure how to back them up from the plam to the PC. The other parts about installing it over the old desktop and using the same name is no problem.

In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Palm\YourUserName (usually some combination of your last name and first initial). Copy this folder to a temporary directory so you'll have a backup of all your Palm data in case something goes wrong with the new desktop install. If you want to be absolutely safe, copy the folder to a CD as well. If you backup first, you'll never need the backup but if you don't backup....:)
