After upgrading to the CSNA v6 maps, all my saved routes have become "off-road". They are straight line segments connecting all the turns and via points of the original route (in the correct order). I haven't changed any preferences; for instance, I still have Route Preferences set to Faster Time for Car/Motorcycle, and Show Location to On Roads.

I conclude that a saved route really consists of a sequence of intersections (turning points) and via points. Probably the iQue calculates the rest of the route every time. My guess is that somehow the v5 intersections are not being recognized as v6 intersections, so the software decides to route between them using straight lines rather than roads.

Guidance when driving along such a route is strange. I usually get the first notice of the next upcoming turn, but never the last. And the close-up turn preview maps (when shown) show the actual plotted route, not the turns on the roads. Even though my position is shown on the roads, often rather far from the straight-line route, I haven't gotten an "Off Route, Recalculating" message.

Has anybody else seen this behavior with saved routes after a map upgrade? Has anybody not?! More to the point, has anyone discovered a way to resurrect old saved routes?

Your description of the problem is accurate.

I think you should be able to load a saved route, recalculate, then save it again and erase the old one.

Rich,

Recalculating was my first thought too, but unfortunately it just produces the same piecewise-linear route. The iQue really doesn't seem to know what to do with those old intersection points.

In that case there probably isn't anything you can do other than delete them and start over.

Yes, myself and others have seen this. I think that the key (turning) points in a saved route are specific to the map product with which they are made. Thus, if you make routes with one product and then load up a different mapping product, you will see this phenomenon. I think the only options to reclaim these routes are to either go back to the map product for which they were calculated, or to create them again on the new map product.
