Hello,
I have a 3950 and I can't connect via gprs using infrared port.
I have used all the parameters that my cellular service provider has gave to my for the use with siemens S45.
Can you give me any advice?
Do you Know if are any incompatibility with the ipaq and this phone?
Thanks

What number are you dialing in your connection? The S45 dialup number should be set as *99***1#
You should also have an initialisation string setup within your connection of the format:
+cgdcont=1,"ip","apn"
(enter your correct apn in place of 'apn' in the above string)
Hope this helps

all the connection parameters suggested from my phone provider
( they are similar to the ones you gave me) but I have no result.
I have tried a simple gsm connection with a Siemens Sl45 ( another cellular phone) and it works. No chance to make it work with a siemens S45 (gsm or gprs mode).
I must think there must be some sort of incompatibility within S45 and Ipaq 3950...
Can you give me more infos?
Also the S45 is my daddy phone so I'm thinking to sell my SL45( I can play mp3 with my Ipaq!) and buy a new gprs phone , can you tell me a gprs phone that surely works with Ipaq 3950?
Thanks

Are you using the same SIM card in both handsets? If you are, then I would suggest a fault with the S45 handset, or you may need the firmware updating and you will need to contact Siemens about how to get it upgraded.
If it's a different SIM, then check your account with your network provider. You will need a data channel provisioned for GSM access and some providers can overlook this - give them a call to check if it is provisioned - it may be worthwhile checking your GPRS account to see if the correct APN is provisioned while you're there !

At first I must say to you that I was using the same sim, so the problem must be in the phone.
Navigating in the menu of S45 I found a voice under gprs config called autentication... when I switched to off I finally make Ipaq connect to internet with S45!!!
I wonder why my provider didn't tell me!!!
Thank you again for your help...

Perhaps a silly thing, but do you have a GPRS account active?
