just curious what others think... I'm a noob with the IPAQ but seeing I can't afford a laptop (that would be ideal) i figured an IPAQ would do me justice until the time comes. I did a lot of research and when it was time to purchase one (I wanted the 4155 because of the WiFi) every single store I went to either did not carry them or never even heard of them. I was kinda shocked.

Best Buy - I went to 4 different stores around my state and they displayed both the 2215 & 4155 yet none of them had any price tags. When asking the dum dum sales kids they just tell me "why not get an MP3 player?", "The RZ1710 is the best thing ever to hit the market! Just buy that!" "HP no longer makes those models they are totally outdated" "Discontinued" "These things are junk that's why we pulled them" And a few more comments that made me LOL!

Circuit City - Went to 3 different stores. Again all of them had display models of the 2215 & 4155. Again the sales dum dum told me, "These things are not practical at all so they have been discontinued" "No longer carry them as they are poor sellers" "We only carry the RZ1710 and its on sale for $280, almost half of what you'd pay for the 2155!" More comments to LOL to...

Staples - What a joke. The guy flat out told me, "The IPAQ 2215 is a dying breed. Its just not a practical business tool and it sure is not an entertainment tool. But I have one left in stock and its on clearance for $330." BINGO. I asked if they carry the 4155 but no luck. None left - even at the warehouse. "Its discontinued and old" whatever! The second the sales guy said, "You need the protection plan for $80..." I said "NO" and the guy snapped at me! He said, "NO, YOU LET ME FINISH" uhhhhhh. I again said no and he attempted to ring me up but never did. He pretended to be on his cell phone when finally a manager walked by and asked "Do you need any help???" Funny how the sales guy quickly put his cell away and all of a sudden cashed me out. I guess he was upset I didn't get the extended service plan...well sorry! i don't want it!

Anyway - is the IPAQ a dying breed? What an experience... I could have saved time and probably ordered it online but the first few online places also explained "Discontinued" yet they say they are in stock

Is there a new "mid level" IPAQ (such as the 4155) coming out soon or something?

HP is in the process of releasing 5 new models of ipaq. They first released the low end rz1715, the phone model h6315 was just recently released and the mid level rx3115 and rx3715 was just available 2-3 days ago. The high end hx4705 is expecting soon.

hmmmmm, so what is the price of the rx3115? Do you think it would be wise to return the 2215 in favor of the rx3115???? I wonder...

People reported seeing them iat Fry's Electronics as well. One advantage of 2210 is that it has cf and sd slots.

GOOD POINT regarding the cf/sd slots as my nikon uses CF and i wanted to purchase a wifi card as well....

I just checked with all retail stores in my area and none of them have even heard of the rx series. Someone at best buy said they heard the rumor was they will get them in stock for October or so... as she said, "In time for the holiday craze" so whatever that means...

Just bought a iPaq 4355 through Ebay. So far I like it, but have LOTS to learn. I don't think it will be outdated for a long while.

The sales persons in the stores were not helpful when I tried to find out more about what to buy. Finally started surfing and decided on above. It has a keyboard if I get tired of pecking w/stylus, although I haven't found that to be tedious.
