Ok i have a 2215 and i was so excited today when i called Bestbuy and asked them about the rx3715 (cause it came out on the website today) and a lady answered the phone and i asked her when they would get them in. Well she leaves and comes back to the phone and says they are in. I was like WOW cause best buy never gets stuff on time. Anyway i run down there to exchange them and i get there and i dont see them. Apperently the lady doesnt know what the difference is between an ipaq or ipod. She thought i was talking about ipods. So i leave empty handed with my 2215. Well she needs to know what an iq is cause she has none. Anyway my point is when will they get them. Has anyone heard about them (has to be from bestbuy cause of warrenty). Thanks.

Yea, I have had very bad reputations w/Best Buy as well... only trust yourself and try doing the research yourself. Before I asked 2 Best Buy employees how to set up a home network of 2 computers...they told me I HAD to have a hub...lol a gateway network between 2 computers doesn't need a hub.

The current release date according to the HP website is September 3, 2004. So, depending on your location, they may be out already. For other countries, then you may be looking at a couple more weeks.

I saw the rx3715 finally for sale on the site. So i decide to call up the best buy costomer service and i ask her if she knew anything at all about pda's and she says We dont have any in stock. Well i know they have some so i call the same store just go to Computers section. I asked him and he said the just got the new ones and will get the rx3715 in a few days. I dont get it. Who is right. Buying stuff is starting to get harder and harder.

I went to Best Buy on Thursday (9/9/04) and found out that our Best Buy has them in stock. But when I checked their daily flyer ad, it didn't show them. I'm guessing that the Best Buy in my area had them in stock a while ago. Yea, it seems like it depends on where...not all Best Buys get them on the same date. I also noticed that this Best Buy now had a very small PDA section along w/MP3 players. I don't know what is happening. I'm guessing that MAYBE they are waiting for newer models or that PDA sales at this Best Buy suck. If the sales are sinking, then I am guessing that most sales would be from places like eBay.com.

To bad im in Arizona but if Cali has them then Az cant be to far from them but i dont know. I cant trust them so i think im just going to go down there today or tomorrow and talk to someone who knows what i am talking about. Btw is it me or is the hype for all the new ipaqs very....dull?

LOL I'm not sure there. But what I am wondering (and I don't know if others are as well) is about hwo fast are the new Samsung 400 MHz CPU based iPAQs! The 266 MHz H1945 in CPU speed rivaled most other 400 MHz XScales... I think... So I am guessing that the 400 MHz Samsungs should rival, in speed, to the new XScale's 624 MHz based CPUs...

Hey who else thinks that Best Buy employees in the computer section & PDA/Cellphone section suck? I do... but what other departments do these employees suck in? You know what I say? Just eliminate the sales people in the computer section and replace them with terminals that can answer all the questions through database (w/voice)...

I have a 2215 and was interested in *maybe* returning it for the 3715 so I inquired about it at 9 different BB stores by phone. For the most part NONE of them even know what I'm talking about
The store near me said they have the 3715 in stock so I was like, "Wow!" I asked three times "Are you sure" And the kid kept saying "yeah, yeah, dude, just come down..." well sure enough I get there and not only do they not have a PDA section anymore they didn't even have the 3715 in stock. They have the crappy 1715 in stock!!!! The kid at the counter was like, "I don't know who told you we had that model because we are no longer carrying any PPC's. You have to go online to purchase that model"
Whatever... so i drove across town to the next BB and sure enough they don't have a PDA section anymore. I ask the kid about the 3715 and he of course pulls out the 1715 and INSISTED that was what I wanted. he changed his mind when he checked online...idiot.
I made a bunch of calls and most of the stores said "We don't carry PPCs" to "You have to order that online only, retail stores WILL NOT be getting them".
So i call the 1-800# and the girl also said "The 3715 will not be offered to retail stores until further notice." Yet when I call another store the guy said, "October is when we're getting them..."
no one has any idea what is going on...BB is a joke.

for laughs i just called BB 1-800# right now - i got a girl who said that the majority of retail stores will not be selling PPC's anymore, it depends on your area. In my state she told me none of the BB stores will carry PPC's -
so looks like you have to order the 3715 online only...
y do they even have the 1715!?!?!???

Well all i know is bb is completly retarded. They dont know what is going on. And plus the best buy up by me said they have the 3115? I was like what? Then i asked does it have a digital camera and they said no. Why do they have the 3115? Then i asked if they could special order it from the warehouse and they said they cant. What idiots... I dont know what to say. Hey, i just got a good idea. If i applied for that job in the Pda department and i know more than him then they would hire me. Hmm i might have to try that. Then again why work for them if they have a cruddy supply system.

lol, I am starting to think that Best Buy sucks. At some point, there will be a good time for a competitor to slam them out of business.

From what I've seen around here, Fry's could do it in Chicago. I picked up my h1945 there when the store opened up, and they've already got all the new models, and atleast two people per area that actually know what they're talking about. Three of their PC department carry them on their belts, even.
But PDA's aside, their selection and price beats the piss out of Best Buy - and they aren't trying to hard-sell extended warantees on everything. That's my biggest BB gripe. Sure, if there's a warantee, and it's reasonably priced, offer it to me. If I say no, leave it alone.

lol, that's the big problem. Yes, leave me alone as well on warranties too. I am writing this on a Emachines Athlonx XP 2500+ laptop I bought from Best Buy several months back. When I bought it, I tried to make it clear that I knew EXACTLY what laptop I wanted and wanted to PAY FOR IT AND LEAVE...lol yes you guessed it...they ignored me and tried to sell every sales pitch on warranties and "accessories" before ever bringing my laptop to the desk for me to pay for it... and right, that was not the end of it, of course like car-salesmen, they tried to make me feel guilty for waiving off the warranties...

just go to bestbuysux.org for stories...
but anyway these "extended service plans" are nothing more than a money making scheme. If you read the fine print you'll understand... Each sales person must sell a certain number of these plans a month or else they do not get their bonus. Per a girl I talked to she explained to me that when she doesn't sell the quota her boss yells at her and says, "You HAVE to meet the quota there is NO excuse. Exaggerate, play with emotions, and PUSH. Its simple to sell these plans just do it!" She said a lot of the sales people lie but management does not encourage lying but does encourage exagerating so... what's the difference there???? I think BB makes a lot off the extended plans. So when you do not give in, these kids give you an attitude and start being rude and stuff.
When I bought my iPod earlier this year and I REFUSED the warranty the freakin' kid had the nerve to YELL at me! I was so  I talked to the so called supervisor who did nothing. Said that I was not being "prudent" in considering the extended warranty for my new iPod - WHATEVER! And you know what? They put it on my bill ANYWAY! After telling them I would consider legal actions against them they took it off right away and gave me some nick nacks for my then new iPod. They said, "Well we'd NEVER put something on there if you did not want it. There was a lack of communication sir..."
My friend who bought an iPod went in there and said, "I want that and here is my credit card!" the second the girl started in with the warranty he said, "Hey I got to go, here is my credit card" The B (i feel bad for calling her that but that is what she is) just walked away! Left him hanging! He just took the iPod box and went to the front where again they tried the stupid deal with the warranty and then hassled him how he got the iPod to the front as they are only to be paid for at the PDA/Camera dept.
what a freakin' hassle! i tell ya. BB sux. :p

You know? There is even a website displaying Fry's Electronics' bad experiences as well. I didn't know that. Circuit City seems like the best out of the three. Over here, Circuit City just moved to a bigger store twice the size...now they have a whole section on PDAs which is pretty cool. What do you guys think? Which is the best out of the three? Best Buy, Fry's, or Circuit City? Hey, Bestbuysux.org isn't the only Best Buy sux website....there are others:

...I guess there are probably more...

to be quite honest NONE of them have good customer service (w/the exception of Fry's as there are none in my area).
Last night I went into a BB to pick up some new headphones for my iPod 40gb and just observing every section in the store I saw every single saleskid (none of which are over the age of 22) hanging out, flirting, listening to their iPods or mp3 players WHILE ON THE FLOOR, watching DVDs, playing xbox/PS2, browsing cd titles, fooling around with laptops, etc... every employee in that BB was "fooling around" and I swear, there were at least 4 different customers just waiting to be helped and 1 customer actually was really P/O'ed and yelled at one of the saleskids who gave the guy an attitude back. Look at the so called customer service desk. A huge line of people trying to return stuff while the two kids behind the counter are ignoring - well who knows, one was on the phone while the other was doing who knows what on the computer... of course when i went to the check out they tried both scams (I call them that at least) extended service plan and "free" subscription to Sports Illustrated or Entertainment Weekly. Just remember, nothing in this world is free (well maybe somethings but rare). when I didn't take the "free" subscription the kid freaked out at me (here we go again), he kept saying, "Come on...its free! Come on, just sign up for it, they won't charge you. We just need your credit card number for the record..."
Circuit City don't push their extended service plans as much. I know they are set up the same was as BB is but when I bought my car stereo system system from them they didn't push, i said no and that was the end of it...
What ever happened to the times where we could just go in to a store and just buy what we need and GET OUT! Now a days extended service plans are big business and EASY MONEY. You'd be lucky to get out of a BB within 2hrs! Waiting around to be helped to the harrasment of service plans!

Actually, more than the Extended warantees, more than the annoying salespeople, one thing REALLY makes me shop online more.
People checking your reciept on the way out.
Especially when there is no way out of the store but a little 1 foot walkway other than the cashier. I'm a professional looking, normal type guy. And they hardly even LOOK at the reciept anyways. They just draw a big fat line across it with a sharpie marker, 9 times out of ten screwing up the numbers on it so when I send it in for expense reimbursement at work, they call and complain. In this day and age of high tech surveilance and magnetic theft detection, what's the need for some underpaid lazy person to stand there with a security uniform on, armed to the teeth with markers and hilighters?
This is the same reason everything is behind a counter or under a glass cabinet. Noone trusts anyone, no matter where you go. If I were a theif, nothing would make me more leery than having all the products right there in the open. Having everything locked up also makes it hard to decide what you want, compare features, etc, when you're at a place like BB where the kid behind the glass makes 7 dollars an hour or whatever.
