well I was just at sam's club and behold, they have ONE 5555 left for sale at $399. I just bought a 2215 at a discount from Staples for $330 (last one as well) but now am thinking of returning it and buying the 5555.

What do you think of the 5555 guys? Is it worth to return the 2215 for the 5555? I like the wifi option and don't mind SD storage. Also i heard it is faster. I don't mind spending a little more for better performance/WiFi.

Thoughts

I would have thought for the money difference the 5555 would give better value. It has additional ram as standard 128mB Ram which would be useful and it also has the built in wifi. It also has the additional Security feature of the thumb reader but is this worthwhile or a gimmick. I think the downside to the 5555 would be the size of it. Do you also loose the CF slot, I'm not sure.

I was looking at a 4150 or 5550, the 5550 just seemed to bulky so I settled for the 4150.

no problems with the pda - some with HP accessories
no need for the cf but use the bluetooth and wifi

I have both H2215 and H5555 (not side by side though). I'm not sure what to say. For me, I think I would keep the H2215 over the H5555. The H5555 is very big and not as portable as the H2215. The H2215 is very small (not like the H1945 though). The H2215 has a CF slot and bluetooth. Hey what are the bluetooth ranges? I know one of the ranges to be from 30 - 60 feet (depending on environmental conditions). And 30 - 60 feet is enough for me. Plus, with BT, you get like 700 KBPS which I think is enough for me to do websurfing, file streaming, etc. But if I wanted to exchange large files and such from the PDA to a computer...BT would kind of suck over WiFi. It really depends on what you want, I guess. I forget, does the H5555 have a bigger screen? If so, you could use Nydiot Display to get a higher resolution. Those high resolution softwares suck on PDAs with the ordinary screen size like the H1945.

hmmmm...cf... i already have 3 cf cards so....

i guess i like the idea of built in wifi but if it is a lot larger, i don't know. i like the compact design of the 2215.

the sd wifi card is a bit expensive ... maybe i will keep this [2215]

oh by the way...i'm on it right now!

well went to sam's club and they actually let me try the thing out. Got there bright and early (7am) and there was not a single soul (except for employees) in the place. The guy said it is the last one they have and they have to get rid of it as they are currently in the process of receiving the RX series and some other brand new ones that are in high demand (according to him) so they are afraid they will be stuck with the 5555 which has already been paid for by Sam's.

Well I asked him how long its been sitting around and he said he would check inventory records... he came back and said it was actually the display model but no one ever turned the thing on or touched it. It has been in a glass case for over a year. Aug 2003. He said that they have the box somewhere  but would have to look for it. All the accessories were still in the glass case so i was able to load the batt in and do a soft reset. The thing is fast! But it kept freezing up on me. I tried to pair it to my v710 by bluetooth but it would not work. Tried the WiFi feature and well, I couldn't get it to work either. The guy told me that they have WiFi in the store but had no idea how it worked. He just knows other guys who work with him use the PPC's to connect to the stores WLAN.

After fooling with it for 1/2hr straight I didn't like how the machine was responding. It was freezing up a lot and the bluetooth connection would not function right. That and a large gash in the antenna... If though it still had the plastic film on the screen saying "STOP..." I was not at all confident in purchasing it. The way it froze and two error messages while trying to run pocket word and settings left a sour taste in my mouth. Granted maybe the battery needed a charging since its been sitting around for one year but... would that make the system freeze up a lot?

I think I will stick with my 2215 that i bought brand new for $330 - even though the price of the price of the 5555 was $399 I passed.

Besides, i was kinda surprised they let me take the plastic off the screen and power her up. Maybe they thought i was going to buy it - oops :o
