What is the difference between 3 types of software: MIPS, ARM, and SH3?

Greetings;

The programs for pocket Pc's are designed for the specific processors that each PDA operates with. The designation of MIPS, ARM, and SH3 are the processor types that the software you are looking at was produced for. I have an iPAQ and it has an ARM processor, You need to find out what type of processor your PDA is running and only download software for that type. On my iPAQ I would goto settings>system>about>version, on that screen it says: processor: ARM SA1110. whic means that I only can use programs designed for the ARM.
Hope that this helps, if not post or PM me the model and manufacturer of your PDA and I will find out for you.

Scott

Greetings;

I found your answer at this link.
]processor info (http://www.pocketpccity.com/articles/2002/2/2002-2-12-Intel-Announces-New-print.html)

It's a lot if info but inside it says that the PXA processors are "fully ARM architecture compliant, enabling software compatibility for products based on Intel StrongARM and Intel XScale microarchitectures. " Which means that you can use any software designed for the ARM processor and any designed for your new PXA.

Have a great day
Scott

Hello Scott,

I would like to know if there is any incompatibility for software written for Pocket PC platform? Can we run the software on a Pocket PC 2002 machine? Are there specific different versions of software for Pocket PC & Pocket PC 2002?

Thanks for helping.
