was at the local BB last night and was shocked to see their whole PPC/PDA area gone! When I asked the kid about it he just said, "Our store will no longer offer PPC or PDA's, you can get them online though" I went to another BB across town and the same thing, they no longer carry them. Went to the local Circuit City and was sad to see they no longer have them!?!?!?!
The only store in my area that carries a variety of PDA's/PPC's and a wealth of accessories is CompUSA. When I told one of the "techs" at CompUSA about this he just replied, "That does not surprise me at all. We sell maybe one a month if that. They are not a popular piece of gear at all, they were last year but this year its pretty sad. Smartphones are the direction they are going..."
is there any truth to this?

You shouldn't shop Best Buy anyway - they are an evil corporation and their employees steal credit card numbers.

Oh trust me I don't like going to BB but was curious what they had. The store near me has already been investigated by the local police and state police and Secret Service (it was on the 'net i remember) because of a 19 yr old girl stealing credit card numbers and she actually bought a Rolex & Breitling watch for her BF, shoes, coach bags, plasma screen tv from Sears, and clothing, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember...
I guess this is not a isolated incident. I heard a 'rumor' of some sicko employee hiding a cam in the ladies room. lots of dishonest things happen at BB because of these fools they hire. And their rip off service plans - man what a joke...

I had my credit card number lifted from there (props to Amex for finding it almost immediately).
A woman I work with had her best buy credit card number lifted.
Another woman I work with's brother had his number lifted too.
Far too many for an office of 12 people. (and all three different stores).
EVIL I TELL YOU!
:D

just go to
bestbuysux.org
some of the stuff is funny - some of the stuff is informative (behind the scenes). 85% of the kids they hire are dishonest it says. Or they just do not care about their job. Only 15% of sales associates (some study but who knows if its real) really do care about customers and the products they sell (having REAL knowledge). They have one of the highest sexual harrasment claims in retail as well.
OH and i forgot, one of the BB stores in my state was involved in a ring of low lives who stole car stereos. Two BB installation guys were involved in stealing stereos out of cars. So that's how they get them out so fast, they know which cars to hit and which stereos to leave alone...
I mean come on, all u got to do is go into BB and walk into their computer dept. the kids know nothing! they MAKE THINGS UP and push that stupid service plan! its a joke of an operation.
I found CompUSA to be a bit better. Circuit City is also a joke. Once I stopped into the Apple store to check out their notebooks for the hell of it and the girl knew what she was talking about! oh well...
I called BB main 800# and the girl said they no longer sell any PPC, even on the website.... uhhh but i thought i did see one on their site...
