I've got a clie T415 that I've used for perhaps 6 months. then the screen stopped responding to the stylus.

I was pissed to see that the warrentee is only 90 days!. I bought it before christmas last year for something like $300.

What can I do? Can I replace the screen? Is it possible that this is just a loose connection that can be repaired. I am competant in electronics maintance/repair. I just need a little guidance, and perhaps a clue as to what is broken.

Btw, this happened for no particular reason. It wasn't dropped / sat on. Just out of the blue.

Have you tried soft/hard resets. Could be a software issue instead of hardware:confused:

Max,
As you suggest there is the possibility that the connection between the Digitizer/Screen and the mother board has come loose. I have not had any of the SONY products apart.

When you tap the screen do you see or hear anything indicating that the tap is being responded to?
What happens whe you call up the "Welcome App." Or are you totally unable to make any changes?

I would chase down the cable first.

The folks at gethightech.com do repairs.

I have tried the soft and hard reset with no luck.

After the resets, I am stuck in the welcome app where the screen is calibrated.

Does anyone know of posted pics of the T415/T615 dissassembled? That would help greatly in trying to take it apart.

Thanks

Max,
I Know that gethightech.com posts pics of the Palm units, not sure about SONY.
You might try one of the digitizer fix apps such as DIgiFIx or SUreTap. IN their original setup they are ready to work on the digitizer after installation on the SONY and a soft reset.
YOur task is to get one of them beamed or transfered onto your SONY after the welcome screen comes up. I don't know if you can initiate a hotsync at that stage but I assume you can.
