Does anyone actually have email delievered sucessfully to thier IPAQ. Which ISP do they use ? Whats the mail address ?

I am getting hacked off with mine. I cannot connect to two UK based ISP's, one hangs the other just errors all the time (see my other post).

When I drop the connection to one, the IPAQ just hangs and says 'disconnecting' even if the GPRS link has been broken.

My machine could be winging its way back to HP, if I cant get this sorted out.

OK... We'll get this straightened out.

I've created a "test" email account for you on my email server.

Go to create a new account, and use these settings:

email address: shaund666@accessmount.com
Your name (whatever you want)
user name: shaund666.accessmount.com
password: 1234
account type: Pop3
Name: (whatever you want)
Incoming Mail Server: mail.accessmount.com
outgoing Mail server: mail.accessmount.com

When you connect, don't use the "connect" button -- make sure you are connected to the internet and do a "send/receive"
(just in case this isn't what you are doing...)

I put a single piece of mail in the inbox -- Let me know if you are able to get it.

I have got your mail and I am connected via ActiveSync and ADSL.

I cannot seem to send a reply. The Ipaq hangs on "Sending and receiving" and then times out.

I have tried this twice. Says its not getting a reply from the server.

try making this change--

on the email setup, step 4/4 (where it asks for server information), tap "Options", "next"

Check the box about outgoing authentication.

Just to make sure... Are you doing the send/receive when you are in the "outbox" folder?

Tried that. Still hangs on 'sending & receiving'. Am sending mail from the Outbox as well. Just so you know I am pressing the butoon that looks like two envelopes on top of each other.

There is a chance that your ISP won't allow outgoing connections to email servers -- It's a spam prevention step that some have put in place.

Instead of replying to the email, try forwarding the email to one of your own accounts.

You are correct in tapping the two envelopes.

BTW- If you received the email, then at least you know it can be done... Try sending a new email to your accessmount accout (from your computer), and connect to your cell phone and try to retrieve it. At least you will then know that there is nothing wrong with your Ipaq or phone.

Thanks for your help. Would the ISP you are talking about be T Mobile as I am using thier GPRS service ? Or can you give me an indication of who it might be ? Sorry for being thick.

If you are connected via cell phone, then it would probably be T-Mobile -- I thought you were connecting now via your ADSL...

if you are connected via your ADSL, then the ISP would be whoever you use through your ADSL (Sometimes it's the line provider, but it could be a third party)

(I hate to say this, but I will probably not be able to do much more on this for more than another half hour or so today -- It's around 9:40 PM for you?)

Thanks for all your help . I have T Mobile on the case and I will speak with Wanadoo tomorrow.

Will let you know how it goes

Thanks... Good luck!

Please let me know when you are done with that "Test" account I set up for you --- I don't want to keep it open too long!

How are you coming with this?

Can I shut off that account now?

Here is another thought...if your iPAQ hangs at Send/Receive you may want to limit the maximum download size. For example, I download only the first 10k of my home email and 'all' data within my office email. You may be 'hanging' because there is a large eamil being downloaded. you may modify this setting in your email account options. Also, I have all attachments downloaded directly to my SD card.
