Maybe I am the only one having trouble with this program but it has been a cancer to my PC and IQue. I posted to another thread with a message I am repeating below but in addition to the problems outlined in that post I have encountered more serious problems.
Original post:
Have any of you tried the program? After installing, I am encountering multiple problems:
1. My Ique won't sync. It freezes up requiring a reset or shows a Fatal Alert.
2. When I tried the program on my PC and entered a password it did not encrypt the password but showed every blankin' part of it. Anyone could get into my computer and steal my passwords.
3. My computer no longer recognizes my IQue. I had to reinstall the software.
BTW. what is the best UNINSTALL software? This sucker is coming off my system.
=====
Since that post, I have used Control Panel to uninstall TurboPasswords from my PC but when I restart the "dreaded Blue Screen" appears.
Be real cautious with this program!

Well, I'm glad I decided to install it from my home pc, by the time I got almost 'round tuit I had read the cautions (and the bit about IE, which I won't use) and didn't bother. I can imagine the IT guys at work would have loved me if I installed it here, we just 'upgraded' to Office 2003 (what a mistake) and they've been running around like crazy trying to get all of our stuff working. Thanx again for the head's up!

Sorry to hear of your problems. I was going to checkout the trial version, and when the download hung in the middle I lost interest. I guess I was lucky.
I don't know of any way to uninstall other than through the control pannel. So, I hope you backup your system regulary. I use 3 things to backup my system and my ique.
1. I have win2k and I use a registry backup/restore system called ERS. I've used this software since my win95 days, although I don't need it so much with win2k. And of course, it won't help you now, but for those interested:
http://www.backtec.com/
It's Shareware that creates a standalone boot disk and on schedule will make a snapshot of your registry. It keeps 7 or so and I run it every 2nd day. There have been times when my system got all messed up by some software I installed, and by going back to the registry of 2 days ago I was able to repair the damage.
2. I have a 250gig drive dedicated for backups and use drive image 7.0 to backup my system completely every 2nd day. My main system drive is only 120 gig and not even 1/2 full, and with compression, I can store 3 or 4 backups on this drive. I keep things like mp3s and video files on a usb drive and don't back it up as I can afford to lose it. But my system disk, that's another story.
3. backupman on the ique. Many have reported here that this is a quite good program. I have performed some trial restores and it does as it says it does.
So, bottom line, the best uninstall I know of is a complete system backup prior to installing anything new.

Just for the record, I haven't had a problem using the program. I don't use the browser integration as I don't use an IE based browser.

I've downloaded the free program but not tried it out yet. Are there any other success or horror stories? I don't know if I should go ahead and use it or trash it based on the responses so far.

Glad I didn't mess with it. Now I'm probably not going too.

I've always been partial to Norton System Works Clean Sweep (even before Norton bought it) for unistalling software.
I think though that if WinXP has it listed in the Add/Remove Software option that it will probably unistall fairly cleanly. It may leave behind some registry remanats but those are easily cleaned as well by some tweaking.

Yes, CleanSweep was a must on W9x systems but I find it of very little use with today's big hard drives and WinXP's improved uninstall. CleanSweep is still installed on my home PC but too slow for use because it does not allow you to exclude drive partitions. Consequently CS scans all drive space for solutions. My PC has 400GB spread over 3 hard drives - I can't be bothered to wait for CleanSweep to do its thing if Windows XP's uninstall seems to work well, and much faster.
I do keep "data" on different partitions than the "system", i.e. no user files are stored on the partition where Windows is installed. This system partition is imaged regularly using Norton Ghost. Fortunately I have not needed Ghost since I moved from W98 to W2K and then WXP, but it is good to know the backup is there if I need it.
(Ghost "images" partitions. Imaging is the most complete backup possible for system partitions.)

Tonight, I was helping a friend cleanup his system, an XP home system. I found 3 or 4 programs that did not un-install properly, in fact, one, which appears to be some sort of virus or spyware, called weatherbug or some such, not only didn't uninstall, it kept asking questions, like "are you sure you want to uninstall" and finally sent me off to a web page to fill in a survey. If I didn't fill in the survey, the uninstall could not even finish, and I had to use a process kill program to get rid of the hung uninstall process itself.
Ghost or drive image is the best way to recover from some disasterous install. If I had to rebuild my system disk, it would take weeks of my time to find everything and reinstall. Others might not have this need, but all it takes is one registry messup and you might be back to square one.
In my case, I use drive image, and it has a scheduled backup so I don't even have to do anything except check the logfile once in a while to make sure it is working (e.g. to make sure I have enough room on my hard drive where I do backups). One really cool feature is that the image file can be "mounted" as a virtual file system. I can then even use my compare program (beyond compare) to see what has changed since the last backup, on the entire system disk.
Your mileage may vary, but I don't ever, ever want to have to setup another windows system from scratch, especially mine. Going from w98 to win2k was the most boring pain in arse because I couldn't simply upgrade.

It's a nice realtime weather information program that I've used on several computers for months. It's often provided by local weather stations for free, but their site has both a free version with ads or an ad-free subscription version. I've found the free version to be benign.

I didn't know what it was or how it got on my friends machine. But it sure didn't want to be removed. It might be benign when using, but what a pain to remove it. It seems to be classified as annoying adware.
It is listed on the site pchell.

So getting back to Turbopasswords, has anyone tried it on the iQue? Seems like one person had a bad experience and all the rest of us backed away fast. I hate to totally discount a program because of one bad review, but... well, I don't want to be the guinea pig! Any volunteers? :)

Installed w. 1 password so far no problems!
Hate to see something that could be valuable get lost because of one problem. Has anyone contacted the vendor?
Any chance something else was the cause?

I have had no problems with TurboPassword on both my WinXP Professional laptop and my iQue. I think it is a decent program, I will use it some, but it is certainly not essential. The price was right.

I've been using TurboPassword and other than getting sync error messages after I customized a couple templates, it is working fine. The error messages appear, but the data still syncs okay...am trying to figure out how to get rid of the template sync error without having to delete my custom templates.

Could this have something to do with the "free" download, which maybe isn't so free after all?

Well, I paid full price for it. That's what I get for doing something before checking here first! To the wise...check this forum before spending money on your Q (you will save money that way). :D
But I am not disappointed with T-P. I had been using 9.95 Safe, which did not have a companion desktop application and this has filled my needs quite nicely. I am a bit concerned about the issue presented by the first post and the clear-text password. I am not sure how to check for that.
