Hello,
I just bought the Sony Clie Sj30 and I am stoked as it is much faster than my old palm 5 from several years ago. I am however bummed out that when I tried to watch a movie on Gmovie and or Kinoma (a program I download from Sony online)- (really a preview) the video looked amazing but no SOUND. Is it because the speaker is Too small? The preferences were set to audio on both sides. I guess I cannot listen to the previews just watch them? Oh well? The games, like pinball still make noise. Help I just want an answer or solution.

Jumper,
There should be sound even in the Demo. I know the sound is part of the Kinoma package. Try reloading only one of the apps not both. Then do a soft reset.

I will try that,
If I don't get sound during that movie preview does that mean that my Clie' is not working properly? I get sound in the other games. Just not during Gmovie or Kinoma.

I think your SONY is fine. The conflict is probably between the two video players audio patches. Audio of this type goes to the OS so an incompatability is most likely the problem.

Here's some info from 2 reviews re the SJ30 's speaker:
1st Review:
"Speaker - As I mentioned in the first part of this review, the SJ30 has a standard speaker. This means it can't play polyphonic sounds like the T and NR series can. What I've realized as I've had a chance to use the SJ30 longer its speaker isn't very loud. In a side by side comparison, the SJ30's speaker was significantly less loud than an m500 series Palm.
I don't think this is a fatal flaw but it can be a bit tough to hear alarms with the SJ30 in your pants pocket and there is some ambient noise, like in your car."

2nd Review:
"The speaker, it should be noted, is not the enhanced variety found on the T and NR series. ... The only things you don't get is built-in music playback capabilities, which requires going up to Sony's T series handhelds."

Hope this helps.

;) Thanks, Old Blue,
I am pretty Happy Over all with The S series. I guess I would have dropped some more Casholla if I wanted music and audio as well.

Glad I could offer some information. I looked at the SJ30 a couple of months ago and was impressed with its compact size and clarity of its display. It "felt good" in my hand.
