I've got an IPAQ 5450, and a Rikaline bluetooth GPS. Everything was working perfectly until today. I installed a bluetooth dongle on my computer so I could use the GPS with it also. Somewhere in the setup, I screwed things up with the IPAQ. I've got Mapopolis, Pocket Streets and an aviation program called PocketFMS. Now none of them will connect to the GPS. Before, I would go to the bluetooth manager, connect to the GPS, then start the GPS in whichever program I was using. Now, the IPAQ and GPS connect, but when I try to start using the GPS in one of the programs, it closes the connection and says it can't find the GPS. I tried reinstalling the GPS on the IPAQ and it still does the same thing. I have no clue what I did, or how to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I believe I have the stupidest question yet asked on this forum, but is the dongle turned off when you try to use the Ipaq with the GPS? -- Do you end the BT partnership between the dongle and the GPS before opening up the new one with the GPS and IPaq?
Also - Does your GPS create a permanent partnership? How many does it allow?

Here's the steps of what happened. All was fine, then I got the dongle. Tried to connect my laptop to Microsoft Streets and Trips. I connected to the GPS, then when I tried to configure the GPS in Streets and Trips, it would disconnect the laptop from the GPS so I gave up for a while. That was yesterday. Today I tried to connect the GPS to the IPAQ again which used to be a breeze, but now it's doing the same thing as my laptop. I start the bluetooh manager, connect to the GPS, but when I try to start the GPS in Mapopolis, the GPS disconnects and the bluetooth manager comes up asking which device I want to use. Now it just hangs there and I have to do a soft reset. Before, I would connect to the GPS, start the GPS in Mapopolis and would be up and running. I ended up doing a hard-reset this morning and reloading everything and it's still a no go. I can't get the IPAQ and GPS to work. The dongle is disconnected. I'm not sure about a permenant partnership, I'm still learning about all of this. I do know that in the manual for the GPS it says it can support 8 devices at the same time. I did try to connect the laptop and IPAQ to the GPS at the same time, but it didn't work. I also tried again connecting the GPS and laptop, but it's still doing the same thing.

Anybody have any ideas on this? I'm still trying to get it working again. The IPAQ and bluetooth will connect, but starting the GPS in any program will end the connection.

Sorry... I don;t think I'll be able to help you much. What did the GPS manufacturer say?
