My hard drive crashed, so I have to reinstall all of my Garmin software.

I've installed my original progams, plus:

Update release 3
Mapsource update 6.3
TrackConduit.exe
TransferWaypoints.exe

I have a couple of other programs saved in my Garmin software updates directory. These include:

iQue3600World-WideBasemap_301.exe
iQue3600VoiceGuidanceBackup_10.prc
iQue3600MapInstall_25.exe
JapanMap113.exe

Does anyone know whether I should install these? (I think the last one is something I found on a freeware site.)

If you reinstalled using the Garmin CD and selected the appropriate basemap and voice files then anything else is surplus to requirements. Of course, you'd need the map index but that gets created in response to the map tiles you select.

It's probably a sound decision to install the voice backup program but the basic CD install gets you up and running. After that, fill your trolley at the Palm supermarket and proceed to the checkout.:)

That's the new worldwide basemap release, along with the new map install that hooks into the desktop and the voice backup program. Why not install them? I don't know about the japan maps, that's not a standard iQue software issue, you must have downloaded it for some specific need you had.
