I took a 128 Meg expansion card from my JVC camera and put it in my Palm 515 running Palm OS version 4.1. How do I copy the images to my computer? I can't find anything that looks like it means "copy from palm to computer."
Thank you

You're doing this the hard way. You can buy a card reader for less than $20 that hooks up to a USB port on your computer and needs no software to run. Just stick your SD card in the card reader and Windows will see the card as another drive. You can then copy, move, or rename files on the card. Trying do do the operation by adding a Palm in the middle just complicates matters and the files transfer much more slowly than using a card reader.

You obviously know your stuff. I do have a Dazzle USB care reader. I plugged the card and reader in, my system sees it and shows me some thumbnails, but it won't transfer them. I bring up Power Desk (a replacement for windows explorer), it sees all the pictures and says they are jpg, but when I try to copy it won't do it. It says
Cannot copy from DCV00696: Cannot read from source file or disk.

Where does it get off saying that. It finds the files, shows the correct type, shows the size, even shows the time I took the picture and you (Power Desk) tell me you can't read the file. What drivel. (I can't seem to find that button that says "No, its not okay, copy the stinking files anyway!)

When I first plug in the Dazzler with the card, the autoplay starts up and I can find the directories DCIM\100JVCGR and all the pictures. When I go through all the motions to copy and hit the last button, I get the message:
Cannot copy DVC0469: The parameter is incorrect.

Microsoft Photo editor says it cannot determine the format.

So I tried to go through my Palm. Any chance you can help me?
BTW: My camera can still view the images.

Thanks,
Bryan

The first thing to check is the properties of the JPG file and make sure they're not read only. If they are, change properites by unticking read only.

The second thing to do is use Windows Explorer. I have no idea what power desk is but many of these Explorer replacements fall over on doing simple tasks like copying from a card reader. Windows Explorer is a know entity and it's easy to predict its behavior. I have no idea how well power desk can do the same tasks.

Your position about Power Desk is valid, but I have been useing it (and earlier versions) since about 1995 or so. It seems to do everything Windows Explorer does and it remembers all my settings. (http://www.v-com.com/product/PowerDesk_Pro_Home.html) Try it.

Back to the problem, Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer do the same thing. I get either "the parameter is incorrect" (but the stinking thing does not say what parameter) or "cannot determine file type" (Power Desk and both explorers show that these are JPG files, so where do they get off saying thay cannot deterine the file type). And the camera shows the images just fine.

So I gave up and tried to reformat. The computer could not do it so I put it in my camera and reformatted it okay. Now I can use the chip. I lost about 90 pictures that I took of the house and furnishings (I am in Florida and wanted them in case Ivan blows this place away). There were some other pictures of the space center but that's the way things go sometimes.

Thanks for your time,
Bryan
