Ipaq 1940 and 1945 are exactly the same model in term of hardware, they have different distribution channels. The ROM upgrade applies to both. Read and follow the instruction very carefully, you should have no problem with it. You will need to do a hard-reset which means you will loss data you input or sync to it and appplications that you installed. Make sure that you do not restore from backup, many people had problem because of it. Create new partnership and reinstall applications instead.

............I have a 1940 and upgraded EXACTLY as H P [added gap as don't like this sponsored link thing: why should someone use MY post to advertise !!] decreed, even to the point of unplugging my usb extension cable to make sure I had a direct usb connection. The upgrade went smoothly and I was then able to restore from backup with no problem............

Do you specifically need the update for some reason? Unless it fixes something relevant to you, what's the point? If they'd put WM2003 SE on it, It'd be worth all the hassle, but otherwise, you really seem to gain little unless your an international traveler.

..............upgrade to Win2003SE for i Paq 19xx series. H P have no plans as yet to do it. I'm quite angry about this as screen orientation is a BIG bonus. And having only just bought my 1940 fairly recently, I'm not happy with it being almost immediately obselete despite its eminent ability to be upgraded to SE.

It's a double bluff for H P. They want me to buy a new P DA - Fat chance with this level of support for existing machines
