I have had a Palm m500 for a month now. The problem is this: I have installed a variety of applications and about 2/3 of them show up as icons. That's fine. But the other third are not displayed. The facts are:

*Info list shows applications are installed
*Info list shoes appropriate file size, etc.
*HotSync presents NO error message
*HotSync shows BY NAME it is "syncing" with "no-show-icon" applications
*A soft reset has not helped
*Reloading application has not helped
*Applications have successfully been installed before AND after "no-show-icon" applications
*No complaints or post have been found on the PalmBlvd review site (for each application) from which I downloaded the apps.

Who can help me with this. I would*really* like to solve this. Not only can I not use some neat apps and read som ebooks but it is just plain CREEPY!

Thanks for taking the time!

What apps would those be?

The "no-icon-but-they-are-loaded-and-show-up-on-the-app-info-list" applications are:

BatteryMonitor
Treasure Island (the Robert Louis Stevenson book)
Nebula (an ebook)
NiggleDict (a scrabble type game)
etc.

Apps that ARE working are:

PocketChess
PleiadAtlas (a HUGE program)
Planetarium
Chem Table (the periodic table)
etc.

What puzzles me is that the apps that have no icon to launch them are a variety of apps. That is, they are games, text, utilities, etc. And apps that HAVE icons are also games, text, utilities, etc. It makes no sense!

Thanks for thinking about this. I would appreciate any suggestions you or others might have.

You'll need to install a document reader to view "Treasure Island" and "Nebula", since they're ebooks. Which reader you install will depend upon the format of the ebooks that you installed. You might try Palm Reader, CSpotRun, DocReader, iSolo, TealDoc, or AportisDoc. Palm Reader is included free on the Bonus Software CD that came with your m500. CSpotRun and DocReader are freeware. The others are shareware and can be downloaded and installed on a trail basis. FYI, there are many other document readers available for the Palm.

Battery Monitor is not showing up because it is hackware. You need to download and install either Hackmaster or X-Master and then activate and run Battery Monitor through either of those programs.

I couldn't find NiggleDict. If it came in a zip file, there might be a readme.txt file that will tell you about the installation and use of the program. Good luck!
