Does anyone know if there is a utility OR is it even possible to
type directly into the PDA from the external keybord of the PC?

In the past I have used MochaKeyboard from MochaSoft. It allows you to type AND mouse on the pc to enter information directly into the palm.

The only problem I had with the product was at that time the file was named keyboard.prc, which caused a conflict with another keyboard application with the same name.

Here's a link to a page describing how to input from your PC keyboard directly to your Palm. The information is almost 3 years old, so I'm not sure if the program will work on the newer Palms, but it's free and it's worth a try.

I like the free stuff but this one looks like it needs a COM port and the 515 connection is through USB :(

No such luck. It was a IIIc I got it working with, not usb. I will try it with my nr70v, but expect nothing. The settings in hyperterminal setup didn't have usb listed, I don't know why not. Old program? I'll keep you posted... cheers

There are on the market USB to RS-232 serial adapters. I'm not sure if they would work in this instance, and the cost may be prohibitive, but it would provide a work-around.

I think that would work, as long as you hooked it up to com1, it really wouldn't be able to tell the difference, right? Cheers

Looks like great fun, but the price bites it, and every time you wanted to sync fast, you'd have to switch back to usb, would be a pain. Cheers

$18 just so I can type to my Palm using my PC keyboard?!!! ... Then, again, the folding Palm keyboards run from $60 to $100. ... I could always un-retire my PalmPilot Pro so I could go serial. ... I think I'll follow Irv's lead, grab a spray can (for $1.29), and work on my Grafitti.
