Excuse the basic question but having been just a 5mx/Mako user and also having read a lot of posts on the above relating to Netbooks/Series 7 's please can someone advise what the benefits are of having an Ethernet card. I thought these were just used for company networking - is there another use?

I thought these were just used for company networking - is there another use? Yes - home networking :)

If you have more than one PC and want to transfer large files between them, sync files, share printers and so on, you'll soon realise how useful a network is! Extending this to include a Psion would also be useful, despite having to convert between incompatible file formats.

also, and possibly most usefully, you'll be able to use an ADSL connection

Thanks. we do inded have a number of computers at home . Is the setting up of a network something best left for the more expert computer users or a relatively straight forward DIY job?

Is the setting up of a network something best left for the more expert computer users or a relatively straight forward DIY job? After you have done it the first time, it is very simple, but there are a couple of things you do need to get right. If you want instructions, email me from my website and I will let you have the details.
