Bought palm V from ebay ...doesent work without cradle

Hi
I just got today a palm vx from ebay . It is used and in good working condition on the cradle. But moment i take it off from the cradle it turns off and does not turn off anyhow. When i looked for support on palm website I followed hard , soft and on cradle reset. Nothing makes it work without the cradle. Do i have to buy a new battery ? I see that the palm is totally sealed but someone on this forum opened and checked the battery .Can you help me how to open the palm and check the battery . please help.

Sounds like a battery, but perhaps a reset while in the cradle might do something to re-calibrate it.

Thanks for the reply. I have already done a hard reset on the cradle but that didnt help. Well I went to ebay lookign for Palm Vx batteries and there is quite a lot out there. Which battery company should i pick ? . Thanks for the link. I couldnt find it on google.
