Here's the direct quote from Sandisk, a major manufacturer of media:

"In devices designed to use both, the SD Card will be faster than the MultiMediaCard by a noticeable amount.
The SD Card also offers secure features.
For more information please refer to the spec sheets for each located on our website."

Their web site is www. sandisk.com and you can menu over to the product info and FAQs.

Personally, I have tried both SD and MM and have not noticed any difference in speed. I suspect there must be other limiting factors, such as bus speed, processor speed, etc. I'm using a 64MB SD Card by Viking Components in my Tungsten.

Hi guys,

With reference to the subject of SD card, I bought a SanDisk 64 mb card and I moved the Word to Go and Docs to Go. When I tried to access the info from the SD I keep getting the message:

Fatal Alert : etc etc etc. So I have to keep resetting the Tungsten.

Can you guys tell me what I did wrong here? Or the problem lies with the SD card? Any info provided would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Docs to go has to stay in RAM, it will not run off of the card. Word to go and Sheet to go can be put on the card though.

I will confirm what Psikotic posted. I have DocumentsToGo (listed as "Documents" and about 230K in size) on the RAM of my TT. Also, it is marked with a lock symbol, so it cannot be moved to the memory card. I have the other modules (WordToGo, SheetToGo, and SlideshowToGo), as well as the data files, residing on my SD card, which is a 64MB by Viking Components.

For DocumentsToGo, I first installed the entire application to my TT's RAM and then copied the modules to SD card using Palm's native Copy utility. After checking to make sure the modules worked when launched from my SD card, I deleted the modules from RAM. It's a bit more involved than trying to install directly to the SD card, but it has been working flawlessly. I use Launcher III, which places a small "marker" on those icons representing applications stored on the SD card, so they're easy to distinguish.
