I'm trying to synchronise my tasks in Agenda with Outlook 2002. The tasks are being pulled over, but they are all being dumped into the root folder. Does anyone know how to automatically place them in specific folder?
Also I changed some details in a Contact in Outlook 2002 and the details haven't been transferred to my Psion. Is this normal and how do I fix it?
I'm using Psiwin 2.3.2.
Thanks.
there are a couple of synchronisation updates available at Psion's own site (www.psion.com/myPsion). Have you installed these? I'd also suggest going for Psiwin 2.3.3 - AFAIK this only improves the serial connection, but there may be some sync fixes in there too. If you do go for this, there is an upgrade path that you must follow - check my FAQ at the URL below fro the procedure.

Found the "Synchronization Upgrade for Series 5/5mx" guessing that this will fix the problem that I'm having with the contacts.
I'm going to download the items that you suggested tonight.
Have you managed to get the tasks to appear in folders?
Thanks.
Sorry, but I don't acually use sync at all :p - I've just been on these forums long enough to know the problems (and a few of the solutions ;)).
I therefore don't know if the problem you're experiencing with tasks is actually a fault, or whether Psiwin sync simply doesn't support what you're trying to do.
Anyone else know?

I am not sure if I entirely understand what you are asking here.
You have tasks on your S5 and are trying to synchronize them with your Desktop Outlook? Not only do you want to synchronize your tasks on your S5 with Outlook, but you want them synchronized with a specific folder? With multiple folders?
What I recommend first is to separate out all your synchronization "tasks." i.e. create an individual synchronization task that will only synchronize one type of entry on your S5. there are 5 of these "types."
Four Calendar/Agenda types:
- Day Entries / Appointments
- Anniversaries / Annual Events
- Events
- To-dos / Tasks
And Contacts
This makes troubleshooting much easier and it could even correct problems with synchronization by itself.
When setting up each synchronization "tasks," be sure to manually enter the path to both the agenda file on your Psion you want to sync and the path to the folder in Outlook, even if the file and folder happen to be the "default." The path to the Outlook folder is just as it appears in the folder tree view (i.e. "Personal Folders/Tasks").
Here you can effectively set the synchronization "task" to synchronize to any Outlook folder you want. You can even have one Outlook folder synchronize with one specific S5 Agenda file and another Outlook folder synchronize to a different S5 agenda file.
There used to be a great article at Tucows about synchronizing with PsiWin but I am not sure if it is still there. The techniques I am posting here I read in that article.

Do I therefore have to setup the path for manually during the transfer of the tasks or can I automate but creating the link to each folder and then running an executable of some sort? If so how do I do it?
I now have updates to Psiwin 2.3.2 and the Contact update. It didn't seem to much of a difference. The Contact changes in Outlook for instance were not transferred.

To be clear, I do not use Outlook 2002. I have heard that there are issues with Outlook 2002 but I have no experience there. If I am not mistaken, there have been people who have successfully synchronize with Outlook 2002. Either way, the process is the same regardless of which version of Outlook you are using.
Also, have you removed the old version of PsiWin before installing the new one? Mike McConnell has a registry cleaning utility on his website (http://www.mikemcc.net (http://www.mikemcc.net)) that will help facilitate a clean uninstall of PsiWin. This is certainly the first thing you should do if you have not already.

There is nothing manual to do during synchronization. the settings are all set up in the synchronization properties. Once the settings are in place, the process is automatic. If you want to synchronize multiple to-do folders in Outlook with your EPOC Device, the only way to do this would be to synchronize each to-do folder with its own agenda / calendar file on your EPOC device. you can not split up one type of entry from one agenda / calendar file on your EPOC device into multiple folders in Outlook. This does not mean that you can not synchronize to multiple folders, it only means that if you are synchronizing to multiple folders, the contents of each folder will be synchronized resulting in having multiple folders all containing exactly the same information.
To-do items in an EPOC Agenda file can be stored in different to-do lists. These will synchronize as categories in Outlook. This may be a viable solution for you. I remember one person posting that he needed to set up the categories in Outlook before the first synchronization for the items to take. Once that was done, everything synchronized fine afterwards.
I now have updates to Psiwin 2.3.2 and the Contact update. It didn't seem to much of a difference. The Contact changes in Outlook for instance were not transferred.
As for your contact synchronization problems, the only advice I can offer is:
Make sure you cleanly uninstalled the old version of PsiWin (see above)
Separate your synchronization as I describe in my earlier post
Manually set up the path to the Outlook Folder in the synchronization properties
Separating your synchronization and manually entering the paths is the only thing that you can do to fix these kind of problems if you have tried installing all the updates.
