Date of production

Is there a way to tell the date of production? Is it printed on the box somewhere? I want to make sure that I get one that's as new as possible.

I believe that the newest ones start in the 914***** or higer numbers for the serial number. The serial number is located behind the flip up antenna.

Garmin has an excellent Tech support history as many here will assertain to. If you don't have the *latest* I wouldn' t worry much about it, Gamin will take care of you if you have any problems with it.

Thanks cme4oil. I had heard that the earlier ones had lots of quality problems so I wanted to make sure that when I buy one I get the latest possible production date.
