I am trying to convert Series 3 data using Psiwin2.3.3 to Access. I too have an error message, Unable to convert file, path invalid etc.
This only seemed to start happening after I loaded Office Professional. (Prior to that conversion seemed ok, but I didn't have a Database to view the files with).
I have subsequently uninstalled, and reinstalled Psiwin, but it has made no difference.
I have found that using the Convert Files program, you can convert "series 3 data" to "EPOC" successfully (sometimes), and then convert "EPOC" to Access, but you cannot convert "Series 3 data" straight to Access.
Before I loaded Office, I had the option to convert straight from "EPOC" but that file type now does not appear in the extensions list - when trying to convert I only get the option of Series 3 data.
Does anybody have the answer ?
There is also a secondary problem, in that occasionally it also has an annoying habbit of not being able to connect to the Psion, when at other times it's perfect.....

Err...you have just read the solution to Series 3 Data files not converting directly to Access. Convert from Series 3 Data to EPOC Data (Series 5 etc.) and then convert that to Access, although if this doesn't work, you will have to save the Data file in the S3 as a delimited text file and open that in a PC.
The "Convert Files" application is part of PsiWin 2.3 - go to
"Start > Programs > PsiWin 2.3 > Convert Files".

Thanks for that Mike excuse me if I seem thick on this - I'm not -I'm just new to Psiwin and converting files. I have no manual for psiwin so have to figure it out for myself and from help pages and hopefully a little help from you guys here.
So just to get 100% clear on your reply are you saying it is Impossible to convert direct from series 3 to Access ? I though this was something that psiwin did do ?
I will have to try and convert to epoc then access if I can work this out, though, as stated in another post on here, I have even had problems just copying a data files to the PC with no conversion - any ideas on this ?
Many thanks
Stefan

Am I understanding this?......Is the only way to convert Series 3 data to Access is via an intermediate conversion to "EPOC"?
Is there any way that Series 3 data can be imported into Microsoft Works or Excel any easier?
Thanks for your help.

So just to get 100% clear on your reply are you saying it is Impossible to convert direct from series 3 to Access? No, I'm not saying that it is impossible, but I can't get it to work and I suspect it might depend on a number of factors such as which version of PsiWin, in which version of Windows and with which version of Access installed :)
I have just tried converting directly from S3 Data to Access and it didn't work. I did manage to convert S3 Data to EPOC Data and then EPOC Data to Access.
This was with PsiWin 2.3.3 in Windows XP with Access 2002 installed.

Hi All
Thanks for that reply Mike.
i too have had success converting from 3mx to epoc and then to Access. Windows 98se and I think office 2000.
Though I did get some eroneous characters -but nothing too serious.
Now I just need to get to grips with access - never used it before LOL :D
