Bet some of you thought you would never here about this again. My iQue, serial no. 9020..... just came out with it's first ever screech (almost one month to the day from the end of the warranty). It lasted about 5 seconds, and hasn't happened again in spite of heavy use over the weekend up in New England.

OK John, another surprising screech. Do not bother, it seems that from time to time our Betty has to shout that sound.

Mine gives it at intervals of two months, so it does not matter at all, afterwards she continues working as usual.

My iQue hasn't screeched since I received a new until in a RMA.

If your warranty is about to run out and your serial number is that low, I would RMA it.

Bokkie,

You better hope your wife doesn't know how to read here.

She does'nt. You can read about it in my recent thread where the iQue was cited in divorce proceedings!:D

I did read your recent thread. Although I found it very funny, I feel your pain.

The first time my wife heard Betty talking she wanted to know "What the hell is that?"

Good Luck,

I think in general, 9020x is the first gen, but at this point, anything 902x has been out there this long, so they are likely fine. The screech was probably a hardware construction yield thing (small percent had it?) But I guess 902x may still have a minute chance of a screech.

914x were the serial numbers released soon after the community figured Garmin had the hardware bugs licked. So 914x is what I would consider recent.

I myself went from a 9020x (Aug 03) to 9028x (??). I got my 9028x just before the 914x started appearing.
