I've ordered a X50v and will still wait to see if PalmOne has a surprise of a large screen formatted Treo or something other than a T5 that will provide a certain "WOW" factor beyond that of the Dell unit pending.
KimH, your going to have to help me over here? ;)

You will find pretty much any PPC equivlant program to what you were using on your Palm.
So when is your X50v shipping? Mines set for 11/18....
Believe me you will not be sorry....had my Ipaq 4155 for over six weeks now and can't wait for the Dell!

Supposedly shipping on either the 17th or the 18th. I may cancel depending upon what P1 does with the next generation of Treo. If it has BT and a large screen format then I'll go that way - it's rumored but not yet confirmed for the Sprint platform. Also, I've got to await a response from P1 Tech support regarding the 650 or next generation of Treo to see if they will support (and when) the newly released WiFi card. Tech support won't answer a question on a yet announced device.
Also if Sprint, at the moment, had another BT phone I wouldn't be hedging on this decision. I may still opt to do it because of the wifi capabilities of my home network. So I'll ask one question of you now.....Can you Active Sync over a wifi network connection or do you have to be wired to do an Active Sync?
I'm still debate and looking at all options but I'm leaning towards the Dell more and more each day based upon limited research.

Yes you can active sync via wifi and don't need to be wired.

Another notch on the Dell side then if you can sync via Wifi.....
I used to have an old Casio Cassiopea CE device back when they first came out...grayscale. Wasn't even close to the Palm devices at that time but I haven't played with anything else on the PPC front for some time other than help my two employees that have them.
What do you think of the Asus stuff?
I'll tell you what - if Sprint had a current BT phone the decision would be over with. It appears that the next generation of Treo might be the first large release of BT phone for Sprint but now scheduled for release of information on Monday.
Do you use Pocket Informant or Agenda Fusion for a PIM application or did you stick with the core apps? I've read good reviews on both but if your using either - would appreciate any input. Don't forget I'm an Agendus fan so similarity of form and function would be useful.
Thanks for the offer of help - it's right back at you if we both end up with the Dell's.

Mooseman,
Don't know too much about the Asus PDA's other than they are not very easy to find. I know their motherboards are top notch so I suspect the PDA's are equal.
I've stuck with the built in core apps in terms of calendering. They are WAY more functional than Palm but I hear Agenda Fusion and Pocket Informat are even more of an enhancement. Need to give them a shot....
I used to use Agendus on the Palm and have been very happy with the build in Calender program.
These are the apps I purchased right off the bat..
1-Pass - Revolutionary Security App 1.0.5
eWallet (Professional Edition) 4.0
HandyMenu (for PocketPC 2002/2003) 2.6
Nyditot Virtual Display 3.22
Pocket Commodore 64 1.05
Pocket Mechanic 1.49
SnoopSoft Dashboard 2.5.03
Pocket Plus 2.1 5/11/2004
WisBar Advance 2.0.1.1
WorldMate 2004 Standard Edition 5.0
I'm sure folks on this forum can recommend some other great apps..
Splashphoto is also available for PPC and check out Beta Player (which is free). Play's AVI videos in amazing sound/quality.
Beta Player can be found at http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/

I'm researching the Asus now. They are supposed to be coming out with a 730W that is full VGA and has a 1.3mega pixel camera. The W is with Wifi but I'm not sure when its going to be available.....camera isn't a big issue but if it's about the same price as the Dell it's worth further research.
I'll let you know and thanks for the links and info.......the saga continues. No final decisions until at least Monday when the Treo is scheduled for release or preorder.

Yeah, I read it. I'm still awaiting the Treo 650 announcement either later tonight or tomorrow to see which way I want to go.
I'm also going to check with Sprint to see when they are going to release some other BT phones. I'm still researching but it's down to either the Asus or the Dell. The Asus has a 1.3megapixel camera which might come in handy in a pinch.
Still time.

News incoming now on new Treo:
"PalmOne has unveiled the Treo 650, an update to its Treo 600 smart phone that adds a faster processor and higher-resolution screen. Carriers aren't expected to offer the Treo 650 until later this fall in preparation for the holiday season. Along with a 320x320 pixel, 65,000-color screen, the 650 replaces its predecessor's 144MHz processor with a 312MHz core from Intel. An MP3 player and video playback capabilities complement the Treo 650's built-in Bluetooth support. Pricing of the Treo 650 will likely be similar to the 600, which currently runs around $500 USD."

I've been waffling for several days or weeks as to which way I'm going to proceed. Well I'm committed and probably should be committed.
I've decided to upgrade to the Treo 650. The new screen and enhanced PIM applications that the T3 contains are on the Treo except of course the screen size is only 320 by 320.
And here are my reasons:
1. Screen resolution.
2. Enhanced PIM applications
3. Single Converged device
4. Wealth of software and history invested in PalmOne software.
5. Bluetooth for a BT handsfree setup.
6. Microsoft Exchange Server
Lack of Wifi....well I've been thinking about it and decided that I wouldn't use it that much to begin with because of screen size when I'm in the house. I can configure the device to sync via BT if I want but quite frankly, my desk has a cradle on it for a T3, a Treo and a Garmin iQue....I can afford to consolidate down to one easy enough.
The two or three driving factors in staying with the 650 is the MS Exchange server - corporate email will come in automatically. The new screen and the BT plus having only one device.
I've been using the T3 in conjunction with the 600 for about 6 weeks now and have decided that I'd really rather only have one device.
I suspect that P1 will come out with a Cobalt device in the first quarter and blow the doors off of the 650 but unless it's a device that has 320 X 480 and collapseable VG...I'll stick with the 650 for a long time.
kimh,
thanks for listening buddy but I'm going to be a die hard Palm fan for now.

Received my X50 last week (earlier than anticipated) and it's GREAT :) Taking alittle time to learn all the keys but already downloaded several 3rd party software programs & it's handling them w/out conflicts!!!! Accidently locked it yesterday w/out knowing I did so & couldn't get it turned on today, until I found the little button that unlocks it ! Great for carrying it around in purse and not worrying about it turning on & wasting battery! Feels great in my hand & works like a charm!!!!! Yeah!!! was concerned about returning my T5 thought maybe I jumped the gun but so far I'm just delighted with it & its features!!!
hugs
Deonna
You lucky!
I'm still waiting on mine - shipping 11/18.

Im debating just getting an X30 or a X50v. The X30 with the addons i choose is about the same price as the X50v but without the keyboard. Is there a attachable keyboard for the X50v i can get later since i need it to use in class to take notes instead of hauling around a big laptop.
And for some other things hehe :D
Is the X50v and its graphics chip really as good as it sounds? And since games will see it a lot can it play super nintendo games like the X30 or better? Could we also see a N64 emu for this thing someday heh. Its got the power it seams.

U guys are to slow. I just ordered it after reading many reviews on it. The thing looks sweet. Cant wait. Will it still run all the old stuff fine as well as the new 3d games that are gona follow? I saw the HP ATI chipset cant do 3d yet. Frickin sweet.

Anyone gotten an SNES emu to work on their X50v? The only one that almost runs is the TWFSC and its not playable because the screen goes interlaces/3 screens kinda crap. not sure why. Anyway is there no emu that works on this pda yet? Rats

The only two that are good is pocketnester (NES only)
and
Pocket Game Gear by Synovial. Unfortuanately the later has seemed to have been swept under the rug. The company website has no information on it and is only availible to those with a ipaq 3800 series pocket pc.

I got Morphgear to work. Works like a charm. Now if only they would make an updated version for VGA PDA's the buttons on the x50v are to small and the onscreen keypad is waaay to small. heh.

Hey also since this thing can do almost anything is there any audio players that have a visualizer yet for a PPC? Also are there any other 3D accelerated games available for this Dell yet or are the 2 it come with about it for now. Heck they dont even have a keyboard for it yet so i cant complain heh. I love this thing. First PDA and im hooked. Already have a friend going to get one aswell soon.

I love my X50v and the new verson of betaplayer now supports the 2700 intel chip so videos look and play extremely well.
Im not sure what his homepage is but on www.aximsite.com you will find links to the player and the intel plugin as well as other valuable info on the axims.
