ROM v.A05 unit is about 14 mo old. I bought used.
Intermittant Backup battery error. The last one was yesterday. Got the error right after I took it off the cradle. Checked the batt monitor. It read 0%. Pulled the b/u batt and reinstalled it. Everything OK batt monitor back to 100%, no loss of data. Battery was new last week.

I know the earlier X5's (ROM A01) had battery problems. Anyone know of a fix for A ROM A5? If this is HW, I can pull it apart.

Thanks

Joe

If you happen to be in a wet climate the battery can develope a coating that makes contact poor. You might take it off and wipe the battery down with a damp cloth then dry it real good.

You might look at the contacts to see if they have something on them.

A reset might help too if it is just a software problem.

Thanks exscentric,

I got the error several times yesterday (after I posted). I wiped the contacts and the battery with Isopropal, let dry and reinstalled. Several hrs later, same thing. Each time the batt monitor shows 0%. If I take out the pattery and immidiatly reinstall, the Batt monitor goes back to 100%. Sometime I do nothing (except Pwr on and off) and it comes back on it's own.

I'm begiining to wonder if I have a cracked solder joint inside?
